  Should a museum of fine arts mean a few impressionist showpieces together with some other widely known isms and names, the museum of fine arts in Split is going to be a disappointment. But then again, if that's your definition of a museum of fine arts, you probably should work a bit on the definition before leaving home.
  
  That said, the permanent exhibition is well displayed, there are no pieces left without light or tossed in places which you don't expect to find any. The collection contains plenty of modern and contemporary pieces from Croatia, but it's not as comprehensive as the one you find in Zagreb. Considering the size of the establishment, the collection is rather well curated and, to repeat, well displayed.
