This place is a lot of fun - and they have quality kayaks for rent. I recommend renting a kayak for the day and heading to the other side of the island through the canal. Ask the owner for directions - he has lots of good tips!

More than just accommodations - great food, drinks, friendly staff. Rent a kayak to go through the mangroves to secluded beaches on the North Side of Utila. Go kayaking after sunset to see bright bioluminesence :)

Close to beach but far from everything else. Almost no people there when we stayed so the placed felt kind of dead. Also a little pricey. Ended up getting another better room closer to "city center" for a cheaper price.

I loved it, their customer service is upstanding! And the view to the sea is beautiful. The spot in the back of the hotel is super relaxing. And you can't leave without taking the byoluminiscence kayak trip, believe me is totally worth it ♥ I'll definitely come back to The Venue.

Not sure how this place is not rated much more poorly. First of all the dorm rooms are impossible to sleep in, they are set in a simple, small concrete Structure that heats up like a sauna when in the sun (refer to attache photo), and with only one fan for the bottom of the three bunks. it is unbelievably hot in there all through the night, constantly waking up from heat and sweat .it was the first place in years of travel that I could not sleep in.
Even though I paid for two nights ($12 per night???) I left after the first night and paid for another room. At a place called 'Lomo Vista' which is $6 per night for a small private room with double bed and fan and so much more comfortable. The person on the bottom bunk below me did the same as well and left after the first night.
There were a couple of other people staying there as well but that's it. And for some reason the girl at the front desk said that there is a two night minimum during the 'busy season' even though the place was empty and there was nothing going on.
The hostel is in a good location between a beach and the lagoon, and a lot of people come here to do activities, especially to kayak, which are $15 for the day. Maybe they are the people who have left the reviews here and not the people who actually stayed here.response / report this review -

Rude and confrontational staff, told us if we didnt pay for nights they previously knew we werent staying for they would tell friends at the only ferry to prevent us from leaving the island. Very dirty beds meant a dust allergy reaction. At night a bed broke and fell on a member of the group and management did not care. Lots of mosquitos, toilets do not work and are extremely unclean. This ruined our new years celebrations and was a very very upsetting experience. We paid £70 GBP for 3 nights in basic, filthy beds. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone and would not return to utila due to this horrible experience.

Literally the shittest hostel I've ever been to in Central America. They think it's a party hostel, we stayed here 3 nights over new year and every night was absolutely empty, so overpriced we ended up paying over $20 a night for a tiny bunk bed (one was broken) when other places in Utila like the Mango inn and underwater vision are way less than $20. Would not recommend to anyone literally couldn't believe how

We tried some non-alcoholic drinks during the day. But the bar here has a big variety of alcoholic ones and they offer a lot of water entertainment like kayaking, standup pedaling and a lot more.

Awesome people with fantastic hospitality! Great facilities, foods fantastic with great prices. Location is right on the beach and if you want to see the lagoon just walk though the bar and your there. All the toys you would want to be out on the water as well as a sub wing. If your looking to take advantage of everything on the island these are the people to talk to!response / report this review -

Couldn't imagine a better Kajak experience! We've got all the safety information we needed before, to do an overnight tour in the double seat Kajak. The staff gave us also all the important equipment for cooking, fishing and sleeping for an unbeatable price. Highly recommended! Cheers

Small portions and food is not what it suppose to be. Chicken curry with shrimps with no chicken in it for 170L ? And then a silly smiley on staff's face when telling them this? Thank you.. overpriced and you have to wait long. Rest is nice, atmosphere, entertainment and general look are really cool
