The Luk Yu Tea House is a type of Hong Kong treasure. The dim sum is delicious and the vibe is old school. If your group is big enough, try to get the private room in the back. Very nice setting and a classic experience. Your guests won’t be disappointed

Terrible service, wouldn’t recommend. Only available menu is in traditional Chinese with no pictures, and the waiters are rude and wouldn’t assist you. Check out other nearby eating places with proper menus instead if you don’t want to ruin your mood!

Really bad service, we arrive at the front door at 8:40pm. The doorman is good. Once we walk in, 3 servers started staring at us and no one try to greet us. So I explain is two of us. after 10sec, finally have one guy walk toward to the dinning area but without say a single word. Once we seated, rush us to order tea, and we asked what kind of tea they have, they don't even bother to answer than dropped us the menu and start telling us they will closed at 10pm. I checked my watch, still 8:45pm, We are rush to order two dishes, food is okay but nothing really great. than at 9:30pm. the serve came again and last order. I was pretty surprise and look at him. I through already last order at 8:45pm otherwise why so rushed. he ask again twice and at the same time rushing to clear up our dish even foods still there.
Foods is way over prices, service is the worst Hong Kong restaurant ever. I lived here and may be me and my friend not the regular there but I will never ever come here again. Never have a local restaurant I will spend my time to write a comment but they should feel shame about their service.

The Luk Yu Tea House is a very old brand name in Hong Kong - Central district area. It is well known for business tycoons for early breakfast. It used to have large tables reserved for their regular customers, but as the generation changes, walk-in customers are getting easier for a table. The calligraphies and drawings hanging on the wall are once said very valuable, but are they? It is a very traditional Chinese Tea House where boiling kettle is used to refill your tea pot. The dim sum is carried around each floor with a large metal tray shouldered with the dim sum lady, or you can order your dim sum with the dim sum menual. The price tag for dim sum and their tea bag is expensive. Therefore, be prepare to have the bill on the high side.

Refused to seat us saying it was "full" but there was hardly anyone there. Went back later when different people were working and were sat immediately. Terrible tea and dumplings were not anything special. Pork buns not good.

Old school dim sum tea house in wood and brass decor. The selection of food here is also of old classics, such pork liver siu mai, steamed red date pudding, and crunchy sesame and lotus paste in a steamed bun.
Fine Chinese teas are also a treat here. It is possible to have your tea leaves in a personal tea cup instead of a teapot, so each pour is fresh to drink and companions may enjoy different teas.
It gets busy even on a week day morning ao i suggest booking or go before 9am for breakfast.

The dim sum here is famously delicious but comes at a hefty price tag. What you get in exchange, is traditional Hong Kong cuisine and service - fast and functional - in a setting that has remained largely unchanged through the decades. From the chairs carved with their names to their distinctive ordering menu, it's best to come with a local or someone who speaks Cantonese to ensure everything goes smoothly. The first level is usually kept for distinguished guests but the other levels are full of character in their own right. Enjoy the trip down memory lane.

This resto is banking on its past glory. Food is overpriced and there is a lot of hype from local bloggers. My son and I went there for a Cantonese dining experience but came away disappointed. The food took a long time to arrive. Waiters had an attitude problem : whether you are serving film celebs or the ordinary man-on-the-street, treat them equally well so you get repeat business. We think there are better dimsum restaurants in downtown HK

crowded during peak hours, so be expected to wait for a table, especially if your group is big (more than 4 pax). service is fast, food is good and as expected of a dim sum place. but the price you pay is blardy expensive, 12 dishes for HKD889?!?

Quite delicious taste ,variety menu and traditional. Some Hong Kong 🇭🇰 friends told me to try this place if I wanna do original.
Con would be the staff wasn’t so friendly and a bit grumpy. But doesn’t matter for me compare to the taste. Will go back again.

Traditional Hong Kong local tea house. Old fashion with decoration and services remaining in the years of the 50's. Food taste is only average and price ££££. However if u know how to order, some hard to find dishes are available.

The food was always good but the waiters were as per usual, their obnoxious self. I normally frequent this establishment a couple of times a year because of friends visiting from abroad. However, without fail, from the moment I set foot to being shown a table, not a smile nor basic greetings was made by the waiters. Customers were made to feel a nuisance by having the audacity of being there. It was a rather embarrassing experience and not the first time either. I spoke to other people about this and was told that the waiters treat every non regulars with equal disdain, nothing personal! I wonder is this their unique selling point. The reason is simple, they don't need us and conversely, and the non regulars can spend their money elsewhere.

By the way, almost all the four and five stars reviews are written by the local guides whereas the lower ratings are not. Without the local guides the average rating would be around two 😂

I wish I would've read all the comments before going there on my first night in Hong Kong. I wonder if they have a price for locals and one for tourists. Decent portions for 2 but 120HKD for a bowl of soup? Expensive, charged for items we didn't know we would (tea/sauce) and AC was freaking cold. Service was nice tho, and they were changing our plates at every plates. But I'd never go there again.

Terrible food. Terrible service. Overpriced and not worth your time or money. If anyone gives this a positive review, they have been paid to do so. This place tarnishes the reputation of the Hong Kong I know and love.

Great place to throw away money as all of the dishes are expensive and the portions are small! They even charge for tea and any sauces that accompany the dishes. Service was terrible as they applied our order wrongly. Despite their mistake they did not deduct anything off the bill as a good gesture.

Food is also sub par, there are many many places better than here.

Hygiene wise the place is sub par, there are cleaner places out there.

I am truly astonished that this place has so much business, seems people like to pay premium for pretty bad quality food.

Great if you want an additional tourist tax added. We went here for lunch yesterday. Food was good but expensive for dim sum. We only ordered a few dishes but some took over 40 minutes to arrive. When the BBQ pork buns arrived, they were steamed and not baked but they decided not to mention this: perhaps they thought as foreigners we would not notice. At the very end we ordered steamed vegetables that we saw being served next to us. Big mistake - as we didn't order from the menu, they thought they would charge $130 for a plate of Chinese cabbage. Great, would not recommend.

Old School Teahouse. Tasty and very well done classic Dim Sum. Attentive service, tea pot is usually refilled without having to ask. Need to take your time to really enjoy the retro feel of the restaurant.

Been there today but unfortunately it's not as comment. The service is terrible. Maybe have double standard due to we are not local or we didn't give any tips at all. Local people they will providing hot towers to wipe your hands and a tub of hot water to clean up your tea glass and so on. But 3 of us don't have any shxt service at all. However the foods is average but abit pricey if you are compare with the served portion. Sorry, not recommend at all. It's my first and the last. Cheers!

Authentic experience for dim sum! Complete with tea the food was great. Prices are good as well for the large portions. Easy to share between friends. BBQ pork buns and arrowhead shrimp are great choices.

Large portion Dim sum. Not your usual commercial tasting dim sum. The taste is slightly more select, in the sense that items are not so salty and sweet. What you would call unadulterated taste of the original ingredients I suppose. Prices are a bit steep for Dim sum but still affordable. Vintage and olden days decor.
