Great school with wonderful teachers! 👍
***UPDATE*** I absolutely loved this school for many years, but in this last year, things have definitely been very rough, not just speaking of covid. But education has been more oriented into social-politics in a partisan perspective. Speaking from a personal point of view and accounting for what many of what my classmates have said, the curriculum seems a lot more shifted away from well thought out education into indoctrinating ideas that wouldn't really prepare us for IB & killed many student's interests in many subjects. That said, there are still many great teachers, in fact all of the teachers are very nice people, in fact one of the teachers actually had more relevant units after a student made a suggestion. But the point of criticism stands that the teachers are a lot more interested in teaching their own opinions than topics that align with the subject. Better equipping us for our future. Hope my next year in this school will be better.
I have been a student at ASHK for three years now, and I enjoyed every single moment. I think the best thing about ASHK is the relationship between teachers and students. ASHK Teachers, in my opinion, really go above and beyond for each of their students; they ensure that each student has the right tools and guidance to shine and excel. Furthermore, the student population in this school is smaller than most. Some may think that it is a disadvantage, like students can't make as many friends as they would like. Still, I believe that the small student population is one of its most significant advantages. It enables the teachers to focus more on each student. From a student socializing point of view, students can build longer-lasting and more profound friendships.
Updating original review. We sent 3 kids here for elementary school,we only left because we left HK. This is a very good school, it is small under 300 students so it has a very good sense of community. I estimate the capacity is 400 so it will always be a smaller school. Excellent teacher to student ratio. Curriculum is very modern, 3rd graders are starting to give oral presentations which is a real world skill, excellent! Lots of STEM/STEAM. Some teachers emphasize digital teaching while others are old fashioned pencil/paper so there is some inconsistency. Heavy emphasis on Chinese studies but beginner levels available. Facilities are adequate, nothing special. Highly recommend this school even if it may not have the history and reputation in HK. One caveat is that the high school is just starting. PE, music and art are all given equal attention. Good library. Parents can be heavily involved or none whatsoever. Some schools in HK license the name of famous boarding schools in the UK, then charge alot, whether they have the same quality is highly doubtful. This school delivers great quality at a very fair prices so student rention rate is quite high.
This is a very good school because it has some very good teachers.
