Very comfortable, modern and clean accommodations. On par with the best on offer in Guyana.
The King’s is a new hotel in Georgetown that is trying to attract a more sophisticated clientele coming to Guyana for the oil rush.
It seems to be an attempt to mimic the “boutique hotel” concept as the rooms and the restaurant have a very modern decoration.
But it clearly put form ahead of functionality. For example, the desks in the rooms do not have power outlets so you can’t work there. Another issue is the location of the water pumps. If you get a room on the 1st floor, you will be hearing and feeling the vibration of these pumps from 6 am till past midnight. It is almost impossible to sleep.
And the staff wasn’t any helpful. On the power issue, the person that came to my room to fix it had no idea of what to do. And on the pumps, they promised to move me to another room but when I came downstairs in the morning they informed that there weren’t any other rooms available.
In my opinion a hotel for a business person is a place to work and sleep and at the King’s you can’t do neither.
I moved out after the first night.
1st class accommodation in a nice part of town
I know they just opened, but the staff is very kind and professional already. The quality is quite high and everything is clean. The hotel restaurant was open until midnight and had a decent jerk chicken available. Pretty good breakfast menu too! I would highly recommend the KHR, especially because it seems like the Marriott nearby tends to overbook. Well done everyone!
