My impression of this place is terrible enough to merit a review. I didn't get to visit the lodge because they couldn't seem to give an answer to concise, bullet-pointed questions. Either they failed to answer a simple question altogether or didn't answer what I had directly asked. More over the tone was rude and unaccommodating. May they have better customer service in the future - I took my business elsewhere.
Beautiful and peaceful ranch with abundant unique wildlife
Comfortable accommodations in cabins, excellent food. Good local guides for wildlife on land and from boats on the Rupununi River from late afternoon to after dark. Trips in.vehicle to search for Giant Anteaters are available to guests on the savannah, where those astonishing large animals roam in the early morning, before a midmorning nap.
One cabin is equipped for disabled guests, including grab bars from the bathroom into the shower, a chair in the shower, nonslip tape in the shower, and a shelf in the shower so that soap and shampoo is reachable from the chair under directly under the water. And there is no step at the entrance to most cabins.
Karanambu welcomes guest for extended visits. This regular disabled guest comes for two weeks at a time.
Karanambu staff is friendly and helpful. Diane McTurk, who was born at Karanambu, is known world-wide caring for orphaned Giant River Otters, she's a main attraction at what was her childhood home, and her store of knowledge about the Rupununi Savannah is unmatched.
