Tower Hotel Stay
I stayed at Tower hotel for a few days over the holiday season in 2017.
To help individuals planning to book this hotel I have outlined some of the key pros and cons I observed during my time there. I think it is also important to clarify that I was born in Guyana and know the country very well.
Pros:
* The staff were very friendly, especially the lead receptionist by the name of Anissaw and the night receptionist who was a male (I cannot recall his name )
* The hotel has been re- done in the recent years and looks extremely appealing from the outside
* The location is very central and is in close proximity to must see places such as the museum, Guyana stores, St George’s Cathederal and one of the best pubs/ clubs -Palm Court. There are also tons of places to eat nearby such as churches, Qik Serve, Bistro and Shantas among many more
* The pool area and cabanas serve up a wonderful aesthetic and are extremely relaxing either day or night
* The food here is very tasty
* The beds were a great size and very comfortable
* It’s one of the more affordable hotels in Georgetown - but at the same time you get what you pay for. If you are looking for great wi-fi because you have to work in Guyana I would advise you to stay at Pegasus as they have super speed internet and are extremely clean
Cons:
* There was a day that I woke up at around 6 am and there was absolutely NO water coming to the sink, toilet or bath. I had an early morning meeting and was unable to have a shower before
* The wi-fi at the hotel is an absolute abomination and completely useless. The only time I could get a “decent” signal was when I was sitting on the toilet or sitting on a lounge chair near the pool
* Worst part was that there was a mouse in my room one night! It came in through a hole in the closet and was chewing at one of the garbage bags in my room all night
* Some of the staff are irritable and indifferent to you. For example the older lady with braids who helped to bring my bag to my room and was a cleaner - completely ignored me anytime I would say good morning to her etc
* Breakfast ends a little too early, it should end at 11 am as opposed to 10 am
* The pool is extremely shallow- absolutely no diving here
* This is not the hotel to stay at during Christmas time if you want peace and quiet as there is an event called Main Street lime that will prevent you from sleeping all night on Boxing Day
* The hotel needs a lot of work although it has just recently been renovated. There is still a large quantity of cracks in the foundation/ ceiling and holes in the wall
* Breakfast was the EXACT same meals each and every day
* There is not a lot of diversity at this hotel due to the racial Divide in Guyana, therefore there are more African Americans as opposed to Latino’s, Indians or Asians
* The safe did not work
* There were quite a few lobby loiterers that made me feel uncomfortable because they were acting like goons at times
* The floor I stayed on had men playing music and smoking marijuana with their doors open and the hotel staff seemed to be fine with itresponse / report this review -

The Tower suites is the place to be the service is impeccable and of an exceptional high quality

Went to the poolside bar with my wife and niece on my birthday. The bartenders were very discourteous. I order a cocktail, which was a terrible mistake. The drink was laden with alcohol and when I asked for it to be changed I was told I should by a cola to dilute the alcohol. In all my travels and bar experiences, I have never encountered such unprofessional service. Also the counter top was teeming with cockroaches and no one seemed to care.

The only problem was I couldn't use my card to make any payments, they only use cash. There were too many loud parties by the pool for persons other than guests.
