Beautiful place run by some beautiful people. Entirely run and operated by locals. The property included all the amenities you would need and then some. The infinity pool overlooking the mountains is the cherry on top of the whole place. If you are traveling to Semuc, you can organize your tour through them and also get a lunch packed for you!

Nice place, right next to a refreshing river, has a good ambience. The first hostal to be owned by a local, so going there helps support their local economy. Only thing, they play some music a bit into the night that isn't no loud, but might not be ideal if traveling with young children.

Only place run by locals, and women too. Food, drinks, rooms, tours are on the table system, so you just pay at the end. It's on the river. It has a beautiful pool at the top. Good location. Huge portions of food. Super nice staff. Clean and comfortable.

Everyone was very friendly, the bathrooms are clean, the food was fine for its price. I did not like that they did not give us adequate blankets or sheets(only a fitted bed sheet and a very very thin blanket)
For the price I paid I was hoping to not have to use a sleeping bag, also be careful of the 25% tax they tack on at the end. The city tax and the VAT tax.
The bar is also very expensive( way cheaper if you walk across the road to Zephyr)
Not a great value for the price.

Avoid this place if possible. I hate to leave a bad review but the customer service here was terrible .My friend got food poisoning from the food like some of the other reviews also say. We were booked for 2 nights but he got sick after the first so we wanted to move hostels. The owner yelled in Spanish for about 45 minutes before I gave up paid them and we left. They tried to blame our last hostel but we had only ate at Vista verde the last 24 hours. Not surprising since they cook using a microwave. The only good thing about this place is the receptionist David who was so lovely and helpful through the situation.

Elizabeth has the best food in the little restaurant. Great views. Property is only been open 7 months everything is new. Great location close to semuc champey. Caters to their guests offers shuttle service to all bus areas. Plan to visit this one.

The staff is all Family and treats everyone as such!
We originally booked El Muro but switched to Vista Verde and were extremely happy.

We had mixed feelings about the hostel. On the one hand they have incredible views and a beautiful infinity pool that looks into the valley. The rooms are cabin style, again with gorgeous views onto the river and the forest. You can swim in the river too which is cool.

However, our big issue with the hostel is that they gave my boyfriend very bad food poisoning! There were also lot of bugs managed to get into our room at night (but they do provide nets). There was also a relative who kept pestering people to buy her chocolate when you're trying to relax. She does mean well tho. Staff don't speak great English, would be helpful if they were a bit more proficient.

My online reservation was canceled on me due to confusions over the phone which left me stranded my first night which wouldn't be as big of a deal if the staff was honest. when I did decide to switch over to vista verde, the staff lied about to party across the street in order to trick guests into not going to zephyr. Lying, no kitchen for guests just overpriced food, and no fans in dorm.

If you like paying for alcoholic drinks that have no alcohol.booking a private room and being thrown into a dormbeds that you get rained on for the whole nightand bugs crawling all over you..and children trying to sell you happy hour, then you should go here!

+ Great location on the river side and very friendly staff. Hot water, mosquito nets and ok food.
- Even with the windows wide open it is so hot that it is nearly impossible to sleep as you are dripping in sweat.
- The dorm is located right above the private room so you hear all the noise from above, especially when the windows are open (which is necessary with such heat)

Perfect place to stay when visiting Semuc Champey. I've been a few times to Semuc Champey/Lanquin and Vista Verde is now my favourite. The place is run by locals and the prices are good. The owners care for their guests and the place is very relaxed and comfortable.

Hostal vista verde in lanquin is an amazing place to stay!! It is the only hostal run by local people and they try their best to make your stay as confortable as possible. The place is surrounded by nature and has a calm personal atmosphere. i would definitely recomend hostal vista verde during you stay in lanquin / semuc champey!!!

Best Hostel in Guatemala!!!
The view is amazing and the staff very friendly and amusing. If you decide to go to Vista Verde, you have to book the Tour to Semuc Champay with Coci. He is awesome! A Recommendation is the Tubing on the River Lanquin as well. The Breakfast and Dinner is delicious. Vista Verde will pick you up at the bus station and will bring you back, if you are leaving. Really, the best place to stay!!!
