It is truly awe inspiring to see all the incredible biodiversity. It made me realize once again how big the world is compared to the tiny corner that I inhabit.

Tikal is awesome! Monkeys, coati, lizards, and tons and tons of tourists. But you can always find empty spots away form the major temples. There are a bunch of places to get water (or beer) and some snacks. But I recommend bringing in whatever you can fit into a small bag. Also, definitely wear very comfortable shoes, as you will be walking at least 2-3 miles in the jungle (on well-manicured, wide trails).

Magical, mystery place. (Sorry for the plagiarism.) If you like history, like to go back in time this place is a must. Trust me: no pictures, videos, movies, presentations would do justice. You must see the real thing AND take your time to enjoy it. Listen to the fascinating stories, take real close looks, walk on the paths our mysterious ancestors walked. Do not rush. One full day is a minimum.

In addition to the ruins at Tikal, we saw a wide variety of wildlife. Liked that you could get a guide or not. Trails were reasonably well marked. I downloaded an offline Google map and used that to help navigate

Why I love this place; first and for most I lived in the area growing up for a proximate ly 3 years from the age of 5 to 8 yrs old having experience it first hand I have the most unforgettable memories.
