Beautiful hotel minutes away from San Marcos main street. They are one of the few high end hotels in town with gorgeous views but also have 4 budget rooms which share super clean bathrooms and showers. I was lucky to get one of them, by walking in early morning (8am) and inquiring about it.
Great option if you don't want to spend the night in a dorm but also don't want to break the bank. Very friendly staff and super safe with a night guard.

It's sad to write this review because it may seem like a revenge but I want other travelers to know what Lush Atitlan is about. Made a booking directly and made the payment via PayPal. We didn't know if we should choose the room with a view or without a view but since it was our last night we wanted to make it special. When arriving to the room we were surprised that there was a beauty viewbut something newconstruction building just in front of our terrace. We weren't happy because they could have told us and maybe we would have picked the other room and all would be OK. Nevertheless, we told the staff that we felt a bit unhappy and they were very rude and basically told us that we should go and that they didn't want us there!! Even after asking to see the other room they were very keen on telling us to go. Wellsince we don't want to be where we don't want we decided to leave and find another hotel in the village. The only good thing is that they refund us. Overall experience was awful and since I've been working on the hotel business for almost 20 years I do feel that not everyone is suitable for the job. A pity for destination that experience travelers like me and my girlfriend (travel journalist) have to experience such bad manners and service. I'm posting a photo on TripAdvisor so that you can make your mind but if had to tell youdon't go! 125$ it's too much for what they offer. You can find better options on the lake, especially more profissional and polite.

Gorgeous hotel in San Marcos on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala surrounded by beautiful gardens butted up against a nature reserve. Peaceful and relaxing it's the perfect base to see the lake. The only downside is if there are loud guests then it can be a bit echoey so you hear everything. Take earplugs.

THIS REVIEW IS OF LUSH KITCHEN ONLY AND NOT THE HOTEL-and hopefully I'm reviewing in the right place?

Anyway, this restaurant is just beyond amazing, with a true visionary as the chef behind the magic and the great staff. Organic, locally sourced food, many ingredients being grown in their own garden makes this some of the cleanest food you can get without preparing it yourself and means this is 1 place you won't get sick at all. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel at home and the ambience couldn't be more romantic. I believe it's open for dinner only, which shows they are successful enough to not open night & day so that MUST mean they know what they're doing, ja? The portions are quite good and I love that there are options for both the carnivorous and non, because San Marcos is a very veggie/vegan heavy hippie haven and I like a place where I can play with my asparagus and green things while my normal friends sink their teeth into something dead that's not shot up on more hormones and antibiotics than they are. The first time I went the theme was a different cuisine every night of the week and the last time I went they had 3 set courses with the veg and non veg options to choose from so we filled the table like sultans on a binge and tried a little of everything and everything was HEAVEN. Not to mention their drinks are roughly the same price as anywhere else (maybe 5 or 10 q more so like $1 more) but THESE are crafted cocktails made with REAL liquor (not Sirov vodka and cheapness that makes you wake up blind wishing for death) that taste BEAUTIFUL. The bartenders know their craft well enough to do things like tailor make cocktails to a preference; like substituting vodka for gin in my drink and doing something similar with my friend's drink involving either rum or whiskey. In short, Lush is worth the price of a ticket JUST for a nice dinner. It's more expensive than most restaurants in the area but 2 people can eat like kings and drink like lushes and still spend less than $50 which is pretty impossible in most of the Western world at this level of quality. You WILL thank me for this tip ;)

While the place is lovely, despite the usual bugs and ants that you can't get away from at any other place in town, the breakfast that's included consists of only fruit and bread. (Weak for such a high end hotel)
My issue however with the place was that the workers scammed me. They accept dollars and give pricing in dollars, but when it comes to paying in quetzals (Guatemalan currency) the staff tries to charge you an absurd exchange rate of 8 GQT for one dollar. They have a budget room listed for $15 on the website and in quetzals they charge 100Q's, this comes out to an exchange rate of 6.6667. When I asked the guy why the exchange rate for my room was 8 and for the budget room 6.6667, he said it's because it is a nicer room. That is not how exchange rates work and I consider this a scam. Not to mention that each worker tried to charge me a different amount of money, one even came to my room after hours asking for more money! Overall, if pay in dollars you should be fine, but make sure you're checking the website beforehand, or stay somewhere else.

The hotel is beautiful and perfect! The rooms are each unique, clean, and extremely comfortable. The breakfast is included (great fruit, granola, eggs, etc). By far our favourite hotel around Atitlan.

Amazing property in a great location. We stayed in the Pescado room which had a beautiful terrace kitchen/seating area facing the lake. The gardens and the rooms are very well done.

Beautiful place with an amazing garden, super friendly staff and rooms with fancy look. Good price for quality. Only little downside : our room faced the restaurant and was quite noisy as the noise isolation was poor.
