We have a young girl-- Yuri Yasmine chirpy Mendoza. Near the lake. We hope she is safe from the volcano. Saw that she is near the eruption .

Beautiful lakeNice villages to visit. Had the tour on one of my trips there, worth it at least once. Interesting stuff to see and do. Fun to search for Moto, that is moved around for us tourists to find.

Unfortunately it was very hazy on th day I went. The moderate haze in the first photo turned into being unable to see the volcanoes by the time I got into Panajachel. Panajachel had lots of rubbish on the beach and tour boats blaring music at high volume, and was not a particulaly pleasant place to be.

It's a beautiful lake, but unfortunately it's not clean and it's pretty commercialized and touristy. I personally like wild places, so it wasn't my cup of tea there is no denying it's beauty. Get up early in the morning, you will find it peaceful then.

Incredible destination with a great diversity of exploration and adventure opportunities.
Pana is a great launching point, and the Dreamboat Hostel is a fun, inexpensive place to stay and a good home base for venturing to the small communities that dot the lake.
The small boats for hire at the public dock can vary in price depending on how local one looks, and it's always best to purchase your ride onboard, as opposed to paying anyone in the street.response / report this review -

One of the most beautiful and peaceful places we’ve ever been to. The energy and atmosphere there is special. I’ve been single, married, and with my family and every time it has been amazing. Highly recommend putting Lake Atitlan on your list. It’s on my Top 5.

Lovely lake, is just beautiful! There are a lot of places to meet around there, restaurants, local food and handicrafts.

Fantastic place to spend a week and visit the small villages surrounding the lake. There is a volcano you can walk up to but I'd advise you to use a local guide so you don't get lost on the return route.

Named one of the world's most beautiful lakes by National Geographic, for more than one reason. This lake is magical, mystical, enticing. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, author of The Little Prince, was inspired by this lake before writing his famous novel. Go for a boat ride,go kayaking, go for a swim, take a yoga class, watch the sun rise while lying upside down on one of the many wooden decks. Anything you do here will transform your life.

If you visit Guatemala you HAVE to visit this lake. It has a lot of little villages around it and each one of them has their own culture. It's really amazing.
