We did the chocolate tour. It was so much fun! Highly recommended.
Really fun two hours learning about and making chocolate, hot chocolate, and chocolate tea. Raoul was very personable and knowledgeable and kept us smiling and amazed. Definitely recommended
Oddly named as a museum, this place has a single room to teach you a bit about chocolate. They also have a class that is crazy overpriced to learn to make mayan hot chocolate.
OK, so now with the negative out of the way. Every little bit of the chocolate in this place is amazing. From tea to fondue to milkshakes to a massive variety of treats. All are amazing. If you are a chocolate lover, this place is a must!
Such a fun place. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. They have samples of their items, yummy chocolate, chocolate tea, coffee and chocolate liquors. They also have an ice cream shop in the back. We didn’t have time for the tour but will definitely do it when we go back.
We did the chocolate making tour with Orlando who was very enthusiastic and fun. We learned about the history of making chocolate during the Mayan period and made Mayan hot chocolate and chocolate tea. We were able to make our own chocolates with different toppings. Good all around family activity that lasts about two hours. Need to reserve beforehand. The times are 11am, 130pm, and 4pm.
Fun little chocolate shop that's a must see in Antigua. Lots of different combinations of chocolates from pure cocoa to cocoa infused liquor. Also has a small chocolate museum.
Pricey but very interesting! Well worth the visit and the chocolate making workshop is excellent. Take your time and enjoy this place as the history is interesting and the chocolate is delicious!
Lovely place! We did the 'from bean to bar ' workshop and it was very informative & entertaining. We were doubting about the price (Q180pp) but you also end up with a lot of delicious self made chocolate so definitely worth it!
Oh yes. Go there. It's good, like very good, chocolate. Less of a museum than a store. Also check out the nearby bakery.
Nice little free museum. You can also take chocolate making class with chocolate history for 180 qz.
Took the two hour class where we learned how to make chocolate and it was brilliant. Wonderful engaging guide Raul talked us through the history, the process, and had us roasting and grinding cacao beans and whipping up all kinds of chocolate treatsso worth the money. Educational, fun, hands-on and tasty!
Super friendly staff! My mom and I ended up taking two classes because the first was so much fun! Our instructor Patty was amazing. I would definitely recommend taking a class there. Also the hair cream was wonderful. I lost my bottle of it and I'm heartbroken because I swear it was magical. Gave me the confidence of a peacock.
We did the "make your own choco" tour and it was very fun and instructive! We learned way more about the making of chocolate than we thought we would! Alexandro was our tour guide/teacher for the experience and he was all smile and very kind. He had the answer to all of our questions and was speaking as well in English as in Spanish. We got to make our own chocolate, understand what we were doing and have fun all the while.
Highly recommend the Choco Museo to anyone passing through Antigua, Guatemala. A group of us did the tour and cooking class (in English) and came out with an incredible knowledge about the history of Mayans civilization, cacao and how chocolate is made.
Patty lead the class and there was never a dull moment, her English was impeccable, great sense of humor that kept us all highly entertained! You could feel her passion about chocolate and it was contagious!
It's was defiantly worth the money! Thank you patty for the experieence!
We ❤️Chocolate
The class was very interesting with loads of info, but the chocolate itself did not have very complex flavors..
Fun class if you have a couple hours.
You will learn how chocolate is made, from bean to your mouth, then make some molded candies!
Best Chocolate in Town, If you like Chocolate you must go to this place.
The actual chocolate musuem where they make it is a few blocks away. But here you can sample a vast variety of raw chocolate products like tea, liquor and truffles! Staff are really welcoming and friendly who will talk you through it all - English available. There are also plantation tours available and a workshop 3 times a day to make your own chocolate! The smell will entise you in worth a visit!
The name may be confusing for most, Choco Museo is not exactly the point of this shop.
What they are most famous for is Chocolate Making Classes. Which includes a great and informative class about Chocolate and the related history to Guatemala.
You need to book on-line or call ahead for classes.
