  الجبل المقدس آثوث أو آثوس يشكل مزارا روحياً أرثوذكسياً منذ العام 1054 م و يُحرّم على النساء والأولاد زيارته.
  يتمتع الجبل بإدارة مستقلّة منذ العهد البيزنطي، وتتناثر عليه على سفوحه العديد من الأديرة ذات التصاميم المعمارية والهندسية المميزة والمبهرة مما أوجد علامة فارقة في تاريخ الفن الكنسي الأرثوذكسي.

  Monastyr można obejrzeć tylko z statku wycieczkowego, który płynie 0,5 km od linii brzegowej. Wejście na teren państwa mnichów mają tylko męszczyźni po otrzymaniu wizy, której zdobycie jest prawie nie możliwe.

  Ho dormito in questo monastero una notte.Luogo incredibilmente affascinate.Un silenzio totale interrotto alle quattro del mattino dal bastone sulla porta che indica l'inizio della giornata.Peccato che non si può stare più di una notte .sarei stato volentieri un altro giorno per approfondire la conoscenza della vita monastica

  Its amazing how quickly you can lose your head at a beautiful place like that so close to Turkey. I watched the midnight run the other day and really missed a soft bed.
