  Visiting the monastery was a great experience, the entrance fee is only 3 euros and worth every penny.

  The tourists go home and the monks just start their day. It is real. Place as from a fairytail, but in the real world with real history. You can learn about the use and purpose of this buildings inside.

  The largest of all Meteora monasteries, the Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron is a place of peace prayer and worship. There are also several museums of Greek history in adjacent buildings. The view of the valley below is spectacular.

  Built in 14C, Meteora Monastery stood on top of a 600m cylindrical rock. Then, a Serbian King paid all of his wealth and stayed here as a monk. It was why this monastery looked more luxury than others. If you take a bus to Meteora, it is the last stop.
