Lovely time spent today in this atelier, while waiting for my custom fit, handmade sandals. Pantelis Melissinos shared his advice, experience and took all the time to adjust the sandals until they fit perfectly. I recommend strongly this unique shop!

I visited this shop in September of 2014. I got a pair of sandals and loved the experience. I wear them semi often and they have held up perfectly. They are still beautiful. I am excited to return this year (2020) and get another pair. I darkened mine with olive oil a couple times to darken the sandals and I love the look. If I remember correctly only some styles were available when I went. Is there a way to know which ones will be available or request a certain style to be available?

Not sure what else I can add to the many, many reviews online. The sandals are great, and the service was just fine! The place is quite small and very hectic, but still an experience not to be missed. Also, I was surprised at how cheap the prices were given the popularity of the maker and place.

Awesome, customizable shoes. Great quality, friendly service and my shoes were ready in less than 45 min. I went to grab a coffee around the corner at Coffee Island and voilá!

Inheriting is father's shoe business in the 50s, Stavros Melissinos, known as the poet-sandal maker, made the very first traditional Greek sandals since the fall of the Ancient Athenian Republic.
Today, the sandal-making continues through his son and the tradition of quality hand-made leather sandals lives on

Great, unique sandal souvenirs but gets pretty crowded in a small place. Celebrity factor has definitely popularized it. Would still recommend though.

I first visited the shop of the Poet Sandal Maker in 2008. He was warm, kind, cheerful and attentive. I had a wonderful experience and I still wear the same pair of sandals I bought there every summer 8 years later. When I returned in 2016 I found that the shop was the same but the business had grown. Instead of getting one-on-one time with Melissinos himself, you will be assisted by one of his helpful associates (right up until it comes time to handle the money ;)

You might have to wait a bit. It might get a little crowded. But don't worry, it's Athens and everything is cool.

The sandals are the same perfect quality that they have always been. Custom fitted to your foot and lasting for years with loving care. I heard that there will be a second location, possibly already open. I look forward to going there also in the future.

A fun store for a unique and sartorial souvenir!The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is quirky. The store was busy when I went, but I was served right away and got my customized sandals in 5-10 mins. The quicker you decide on a pair the quicker you get them! Tip: have an idea of what you want or like before you go. So many cute options, can make it hard to decide!
