The guided tour was really intense. The guide was very knowledgable about facts and stories on slave trade. Really worth a visit. Especially the part of the tour in the slave dungeons was giving us some shivers.

Sends chills down the spines. You need to be very good at visualising to appreciate the story of slavery and torture the indigenes went through before being taken aboard. It's a very beautiful place and you can view the Gulf of Guinea or Atlantic Ocean from the top. Got artifact shops with beautiful items where you can get some souvenirs from.

You definitely can't visit Ghana without visiting Cape Coast and you can't visit Cape Coast without visiting this World Heritage Site. Then what did you come to do in Ghana? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great place to learn a little history. Clean to an extent, great how they've been able to modernize some areas for the tours. My tour guide was very informative and made the whole experience funny and exciting. But I feel the entry fee for foreigners are too much.

Simply historical. Walking through the alleys of the dark dungeons brings to you a vivid display of man's injustice towards fellow humans. Regardless, we need to move on and embrace people of all race with love.

Very interesting visit and the tour guide is very good. It is a horrifying part of history but important to know. The museum part of the fort has many artefacts and is very well put. It is about the history of the fort but also the history of Ghana. I highly recommend it.

This castle, one of the oldest castles located in Cape coast in the central region of Ghana was once used as a slave trade point and also a housing for the Portuguese governor. Today it is knew of the interesting place one could visit.

Get Transported into the Dark past of Ghana's Slave trade.. Very educational, Touristic attraction.. Too bad so many bad things happened within those walls.. You are allowed to take as many pics as you want. Which is cool.. And we had a guide who spoke French. How cool is that.. Lol..

Beautiful and steeped with a terrible history that is so important to know. If you pass this place by you are doing a disservice to to yourself because it will change how you see and understand the modern world. As a white person who grew up in the United States south, I have to reinforce the point that seeing this place was the most definitive experience in understand my privilege and the resounding impact of the transatlantic slave trade. Don't miss it. For travel suggestions, allow a lot of travel time. On Saturdays there is really bad traffic due to most funerals happening mainly just that day of the week.

This is another castle in Ghana used for merchandising slaves. I would give one start for the reason it was used but as a memory of that period I give 4 store. Close to the castle you can also find a very nice restaurant which is on the peak of the rocks in front of the sea. Ask to local people and they will indicate it.

The guide was very informative. He explained how the Ghanaian people were treated in the castle. Talked about the each room/part of the castle. Why certain places were built the way they were. Being a Ghanaian, I've know about the history of these castles, but it was a different experience being there.

This Castle is a MUST-SEE for everyone: African and international tourists, school children and adults. It is the Castle used by the British to hold slaves for hundreds of years and it is full of haunting memories of black history. The tour guide is well-versed in this history and he will take you on a journey as you tour and see what footprints slavery left. The castle is in great shape, preserved very well by the Ghanaian government and the staff were very friendly. Be sure to visit the museum within and you can even shop from the arts and crafts stores therein. It is located about 2 hours from Accra, the capital and you may have to rent an Uber out on a road trip. That's what I did and it went without a hitch. Date I went there: 26 Dec, 2017. I highly recommend it.

Nice arts and crafts by the locals outside. Cheaper than one would get inside the Arts shops in any of the castles at Cape Coast (Elmina and Cape Coast castles). Ask of Kobby outside the castle for some nice paintings and artworks. They also make the custom armbands with names on them.

A touching history with an awesome view and a very picturesque setting with the little harbour full of colorful boats, fishermen reparing their nets, kids plying in the water. The tourguide is included in your ticket and it's really worth it to take this opportunity. Then after the tour you can wander around alone, digest the history and enjoy the view.

Everybody should go to Cape Coast Castle! The history of colonialism is very impressive and often you have good guides, who tell you the extensive history of slavery.
What a pity that there is also a market for tourists inside of the impressing castle.

A visit here is sure to make a person humble and sober. I saw dungeons and cells where slaves where kept. There are cannons used to defend the castle from attack. I also went through the "point of no return", though this has been renamed the "point of return".

Five stars without a doubt. This historical yet haunting castle will bring out emotions you thought you didn't have. Recommended big time for all African Americans, or anyone interested in African history. Tour guide has perfect English, very informative, great views of the Atlantic and fishermen below.

This place is astounding. Be prepared because this is an emotional place to visit, but the historical truths, artifacts, and stories are well worth the visit. There is so much more to the slave industry that you never knew, and the importance of keeping this intact is beyond what words can describe. As I said, be prepared to be very emotional during the visit, even if you skip the tour (which you most definitely should not).
