What an oasis of tranquillity. Forth visit to the island and first visit to Calabash. I will be back. I would think that this place offers some of if not the best food on Grenada. Wack in a ambience that makes you feel a bit like James Bond. Service and attention to detail thats understated yet commited. Then give it great design, lush outdoor spaces and a beach. What's not to love it's just charming, cool and very classy.
Beautiful, understated elegance with excellent service. A place to relax and still be pampered.
Good Wi-Fi , cocktails 10$, nice beach and service
Exceptional boutique hotel, beautifully kept grounds and beach with ridiculously delicious food and exemplary service.
A stunning hotel, we got married here in 2005 and couldn't have picked a better place. Everyone was amazing and it was a perfect day and overall stay.
Very good hotel and restaurant. I can highly recommend the daily changing Grenadian lobster special (48 USD) and the afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes. Nice beach, quiet location and excellent service. Relatively high price (as almost everywhere in Grenada).
Great staff. Lovely grounds.
Lovely hotel, fantastic location and setting with super friendly attentive staff. Would highly recommend for a relaxing luxurious holiday
Tranquil, relaxing hotel with wonderful food and friendly staff.
From the moment we arrived, the staff of the Calabash went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. I had booked a junior suite, but my mother injured her knee just before we arrived. I asked at check-in if we could be moved to the ground floor, and Calabash were fantastic about it--upgraded us to the superior suite and had us quickly ensconced. Over the course of our stay, we found this was typical of the employees at the hotel, who went out of their way to accommodate us and ensure we had a great time. The management, concierge, restaurant and bar staff, watersports staff, and housekeeping service were all kind and knowledgeable. Had a great excursion to Levara Beach to see the leatherback turtles with a driver arranged by the concierge, and had our first snorkling experience with the help of the watersports staff. Fantastic beach service from the staff at the Beach Club. We very much enjoyed our meals at the Club and Rhodes restaurant. Lovely complementary afternoon tea service. Would love to stay again!
Hotel Service is Poor and Intent of Management is to CON TOURISTS!! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE NOR GET A SPA TREATMENT. Save your money, they will lie to you. This place is a fraud and if you read on, I will tell you why. I would give this a negative star and if there was an international Better Business Bureau or policing agency, I would report this organization. They just want to rip you off and don't care about your experience or vacation. READ all the negative reviews carefully. It is NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
First of all, the advertisements of the gorgeous pictures online, good review are all FAKE! I tried 4 times to post my bad review (see Facebook Calabash) on Tripadvisor and Tripadvisor would not allow me to post a negative review. I am so glad I can warn travelers on Google.
I had to share my story with fellow travelers. I found this on a Google search so I hope those that do the same will read my review and if I save one person's hard earned money, this will be worth it. The website looked legitimate and the name has all the right keywords: "exotic name" + "spa" + "luxury"+ "boutique" = very expensive Caribbean delight and relaxing vacation? NO!!
My girlfriend and I booked a facial through the website and decided to go to the spa for a treatment and lunch since we already had a weekly apartment rental. The resort is far and out of the way. It is small and well manicured. The spa was being renovated into a penthouse suite (first sign they just want to squeeze every dollar out of the tourist). We booked two facials and paid for a "practice facial" price.
We had lunch and then went to the spa. The hotel bartender treated us like we were thieves who could not pay for our drinks and food because we were at the hotel for a spa service. Well, the title says it is a spa and the website allows non guests to book a service so I assume we have to get on campus to get our service.
We were told that we should get a sensitivity facial but never told that this means what we booked online is not the price we would pay. The oldest con man trick in the book is to "bait-and-switch". Well, we had a an average facial without any technology or steam. It was just a face massage. After the facial, I paid for mine first and I was charged the full price and not the price I booked online.
Why were we NOT told this information at the beginning of the treatment? BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO CON OUR MONEY!!!
They will do the same to you. The story continues after I complain on Facebook (go to their facebook page) and Facebook, unlike Tripadvisor is honest and allows me to post my TRUE review, not all overly excited 5 stars of this place. The management responds that they "took care of the facial" implying that they gave us a refund.
THEY DID NOT GIVE US A REFUND. I argued up to the point of not paying and calling the Grenada police to explain this situation but I wanted to go home to the US the next day. We got a reduced rate of $140 for the facial instead of $175. This is not a refund since we booked the practice facial, which some salons have to teach their students.
The Company LIED on the Facebook website stating I was a happy customer and this was resolved. Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel and Spa is a marketing fraud and the service, hotel, amenities, food and people working there are not going to live up to the $1,000 per night caliber and price they charge based on gorgeous marketing photos and an expensive website. Don't believe the good reviews and just STAY AWAY from Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel and Spa.
If anyone knows how to get this review on Tripadvisor, let me know.
The attention to detail is amazing, probably the best luxury boutique hotel I've been to.
My husband and I needed a well deserved vacation after a long winter and we chose Grenada and Calabash hotel for our vacation. Being at the Calabash hotel was by far the most restful vacation we have had in a very long time. We booked a Pool Suite, absolutely lovely, from the soft comfortable bed to the plunge pool and there is nothing quite like have a soak in the tub under the stars!
Our dinner at Rhodes restaurant was absolutely divine and I can honestly say that it was the best meals we had on the island. The fish was melt in your mouth delicious and the lamb was tender and juicy. The deserts were pure enjoyment. I cannot wait for our return next year
Lunch on the beach, Relaxing, the tapas were a the perfect size to sample the different local and international flavours that fit in perfectly with the ambiance and the view. I had the pleasure of experiencing some wonderful new drinks by the talented bar staff, friendly yet professional, attentive and had excellent intuition when making suggestions.
The afternoon tea was very present and relaxing, presented in a proper tea pot, accommodated by by well appointed savories and sweets.
The amazing Reception staff, attended to every detail (e.g. arranging additional pillows, organizing a cake for my husband's birthday and tropical flowers for us to take home) and followed up! They were also very pleasant and competent at arranging an island tour, sailing trip to discover Grenada and our reservation for our at the Jet Centre..
From the moment we arrived at the hotel to the sad time that we left, the staff made us feel like if we were at home, such friendly and professional people.
Calabash is a wonderful boutique resort for those like my husband and I who prefer a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday where we can enjoy the view, warm weather and delicious food without being rushed or bombarded with activities.
Until next year Calabash
You feel the Caribbean warmth immediately upon entering Calabash, with the big smiles from the Front Desk ladies along with the warm welcomes from the Garbutt family. The atmosphere is extremely soothing and makes you feel completely relaxed. The suites are spacious with plush furniture, and amenities that show the care and attention to detail that the owners put into the design. The food is excellent both at Bash for lunch and at Rhodes for dinner. Breakfast in your patio in the morning is a very nice touch, as it’s at your convenience, to your preferences, and in your own privacy. Finally, the staff are phenomenal. They have the right balance of professionalism and friendliness that makes you feel at home but well taken care of. They are truly a 5 star team.
it was nice
The place was empty. We tried to go there for dinner. They denied us entry because I was wearing shorts. Why would you have a restaurant located on the beach in the Caribbean and not allow patrons to wear shorts? If the food is not eaten by anyone, is it still good? Good luck with that business model
