Ramnath Chaudhary, my great grandfather, came to the Fiji Island as an indentured laborer in 1865. He was 13 years old and by 1891, he owned most of the land toward the eastern side of Lautoka town. He sold most of his property to Punjas below cost. The original founders of Punjas never forgot that and always treated us with respect for what my great grandfather did.
