Disney has nothing on this place. Went here for my honeymoon and over 5 years ago and have thought of nothing other than returning ever sense.
The thing that makes this place so magical is the staff. They are just wonderful and everyone knows each other. Spent a week here and knew every staff member and had plenty of en depth talks with them. they were just so helpful and up for anything here.
We got open water dive certified here. and the water are just amazing for diving or just snorkeling.
The Food was SOOO GOOD. Fresh too most of it was caught or made right off the island or very near by. Fruits and Vegetables I have never heard of but tasted so good. Breakfast was pretty set, but had a few options every day, then you got a menu to choose for the rest of the day. All of it was so good including the desert. And the best BBQ Squid ever, maybe the best thing i have ever ate.
The rooms were fabulous, roomy spacious and such an open air tropic feeling. The bed was soft and comfy but not too soft. The wife loved it as well.
The whole resort had plenty to do but wasn't rushed or busy you could easily relax and still do plenty in a day. Wish i was back there right now.response / report this review -

My husband and I visited the resort for our honeymoon. It was amazing in every way. Accomodations, food, friendly staff all there. It was very romantic and I would highly recommend it for a honeymoon or anniversary. Definitely visit horseshoe bay while you are there and enjoy the peace and beauty of the island.

My review is a little tardy - went there in the 90's! It was spectacular, but was very much a scuba destination. If you're not a diver you are missing out on the main attraction. If you are up for drift diving in strong currents you'll see the best the Pacific has to offer. Plus great land-side care.

Lovely place with extremely friendly staff. It was really home away from home. A lot of activities on offer and had amazing landscapes with beautiful views.

Without a doubt the most amazing vacation I have ever taken. Yes, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking but what puts Matangi in a class by itself is the staff. Everyone we met was so incredibly kind and many made an effort to connect with us on a personal level, to the point where we truly considered them all friends by the time our stay ended. The food was consistently excellent and there were always plenty of activities for us to partake in such as snorkeling, handline fishing, and a tour of a nearby village.

Couldn't have had a better experience at Matangi Island Resort. The people working at the resort are incredible and the island is very laid back and luxurious at the same time.
