The perfect place to get away from it all. I was in Fiji three years ago and wanted somewhere peaceful , safe and comfortable to spend my holiday., and Macdonald's Beach Cottages was ideal! Very peaceful, with sweet little cottages to stay in. Weather was great and Maxine and her staff were wonderful! The great thing about this nice little hideaway is that there are only a few cottages at this particular resort, which keeps the place so peaceful. I also loved the fact the there was no TV in my cottage (at the time I was there), and spent my time there, walking around the island, swimming in the sea or just reading out on the porch at my little cottage. One of my best holidays ever. I highly recommend it to those who want to simply chill out, be surrounded by mother nature, and in the lovely company of the staff and owner -Maxine (who is a great host):)

What an awesome "hideaway" MacDonald's Beach Cottages are! We have been going there for over 20 years now and I have to say that every visit has been special and amazing.
Not only are the Cottages kept immaculate, with fresh paint when needed, colourful bedspreads and fresh linen, but the grounds are kept neat, safe and attractive.
We have regularly brought groups of young people and school environmental trips to Nananu-i-ra, as well as our private holidays, and the Staff and Miss Maxine are always very friendly, positive and go out of their way to ensure our needs and wants are met.
The Boat Transfers are handled safely and well, and the Drivers take into consideration the needs of the passengers.
For anyone seeking a quiet, peaceful and uniquely natural holiday, long or short, I would recommend MacDonald's Beach Cottages. There are wonderful walks, hikes, great snorkeling, beaches that stretch forever, where you are quite likely the only ones walking, opportunities at hand to wind-surf or dive, or, you can just relax in the hammocks hung conveniently by the quietly lapping waves!
The long jetty, surrounded by a Fish Sanctuary, is ideal to sit for hours watching the myriads of colourful fish dart in and out of the coral.
All in all, a perfect place to return to time after time!!response / report this review
