One of the best Zoo's I have ever visited. Zoo occupies the entire island of Korkeasaari. Although some of the animals are sleeping during the autumn/winter, it still interesting enough to visit the zoo as the variety of species is great. I was particularly impressed by the big cats exposition. The only downside - children are completely out of parents control - banging on the glass windows and screaming on the animals. The Zoo authorities should control these kind of things more, otherwise animals (and other visitors:) ) get to much of a stress there. P.s. Great watchtower in the west part of island with great views on Helsinki.

Excellent variety of animals and fun displays, great place to spend a few hours. Entrance fee is very reasonable, but food prices of course not so much.

some staff were very rude including at the front counter who refused to take the correct money as it had too much change.

food insanely expensive 2 burger and chips over 30 euros and the order was messed up as we asked for plain burgers and still got fully loaded ones.

lots of enclosures were being redeveloped and it was difficult to get about as the only around the zoo was lots of climbs uphill as lots of the gentle paths were closed due to the maintenance

The zoo is very big, and plenty of animals including big or small ones are kept there. If you are lucky when the weather is good, you can see bears coming out and walk around. That's one of my favorite. I also like the Amazon and rain forest building, a lot of colorful snakes and other reptiles were hold in glasses, you can see them clear without being injured.

This was the best zoo I have ever visited in my life. It is on its own entire island which is covered in trees and beautiful greenery. The zoo has lots of interesting animals with information about them in Finnish, Swedish, Russian and English.

When you are not near any enclosures the paths are just like any other tarmac path surrounded by trees which is really nice when exploring the zoo.

One of the nicest things about the zoo is that there aren't huge fences or walls around the edge and you can get some really great views of Helsinki and the surrounding islands from there.

The only downside was that you had to pay for the toilets.

Decent size, mostly Arctic animals. A small tropical area. Situated on an island. Get bus tickets before hand or have change for bus, there is no Atm and restaurants/stores won't do cash back. There is also a new bridge now.

The zoo is not very large or super-exotic, but is organized extremely well on it's own island. Green, nice walks, reasonable grouping and explanations. Come by boat and don't forget to scale the tower.

One of the nicest zoos we have ever been to. It's not that big, but it has very interesting and beautiful animals, like snow leopards and very rare Amur leopards and Amur tigers. The location on an island is very beautiful and calm. The animals don't seem to mind the visitors, since they come very close to the glass-walls of their enclosures.
The restaurant at the bear-enclosure has good food and is very family-friendly.
But what impressed us the most was the friendly zoo-staff. One of the zookeepers gave us one and a half hour of her time and answered every question we had about the snow leopards, the works as a zoo-keeper and the zoo in general.
We want to warmly recommend this great and beautiful place to everyone who visits Helsinki and is interested in animals, because this zoo really does the city of Helsinki proud.
With greetings and best wishes from Austria, two very impressed and happy visitors

Great zoo, as they say entire world on one island. Animals are well taken care of, this is quite evident. Many interaction possibilities, such as seeing monkeys real close. Also even several really good playgrounds and also many great picnic spots.
