Very good hotel in Addis Ababa, location is very good. You can find many shops restaurants and bars across the street. Good place to stay while business trip, close to airport. Service is also good, you can find gym steam sauna and massage salon. Food in restaurant is also nice. Rooms are clean and renovated.

The reason for giving 5 star is not for 5star facilities but because of what I feel staying there. It's safe place, always smiling and helping staff, good food ( I enjoyed Ethiopian fasting food as I am vegetarian), clean rooms, good coffee shop just outside, just at the right place to enjoy.

Conveniently located near the airport with lots of amenities within walking distance. Free shuttle to and from the airport. Very polite and attentive staff. The rooms are clean. Fast free WiFi. Overall, I was not disappointed; it was value for money!

This was my first time at Saro-Maria. The rooms were very nice, clean and welcoming. I did not go to the bar but I did eat dinner at the restaurant. The Zilzil Tibs was very good. I will stay here again in a few days and I would recommend this hotel to any traveler. Very nice.

The food is great, especially the buffet at breakfast and at lunch. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. Same with Reception and other service teams. The rooms are great - I love the beds (sleep like a baby).

Good place to stay excellent breakfast but the bar staff (in particular to the one I dealt with today) need customer service training. I made it clear to the duty manager that paying customers should not be told to go get their own coffee while sitting in the lobby, the combination of laziness and ignorance should not be tolerated by any paying customer. The staff was neither reprimanded not withdrawn from service instead he was making snarky remarks and the demeanor of the rest of the service staff changed because of our feedback to the point where we could hear them cheer as we left the building. This is truly sad and disappointing as we love this place and come here often for coffee and cakes. As well as having a very warm and approachable owner who is let down by a few feckless unprofessionals who let down the hard working professional servers. Perhaps the duty manager could have done more than an empty apology only to be abused by petty bar staff!! Shame. We enjoyed it while it lasted. Hope you have a better experience. I wouldn't recommend it unless they rectify abusive bar staff!!!!

We have stayed at the Saro-Maria twice on business trips to Ethiopia and have had a wonderful experience each time. The staff is friendly, attentive, and honest. The amenities are perfect for what we paid. We hosted many meetings at the hotel bar and restaurant.
The first time we stayed there we forgot all of our presentation materials, the staff helped us print materials every morning. A colleague also left over $2,000 in his room once we left and it was still there 2 days later.
If you are doing business in Addis and want a place you can trust the staff, rooms, and all of the food, stay at the Saro-Maria.response / report this review
