They have live jazz on Thursday nights which is exquisite. A must go for anyone in Addis. From 7-9:30pm roughly at the kazanchis branch

Clean facilities, friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet. Overall great design and feel. The only issue I have is the website deceptively listing free extended checkout up to 6 pm as one of its amenities, but in reality they'll want to change you half a day rate for that. When asked why, they cite over booking even though some staff confirmed it wasn't the case. I have low tolerance for BS, hence the 3 stars. So be aware of this if late check out is important for you, especially as many international flights leave Addis at ridiculous hours of the day (like 10:50 pm).

I stayed here recently for a one-week business trip. The rooms are clean with comfy beds and spacious en-suites offering decent showers. The staff are really excellent and friendly, and were very kind to me when I was ill on the last day.

The breakfast is adequate, with a wide selection on offer, fairly good coffee, etc.

There are, as others have mentioned, a few cons. Depending what floor, some rooms can get quite hot (although as I read here, fans can be requested) and there is some construction noise from the development next door. This isn't during the night though, and hardly Jupiter's fault. Most rooms lack any kind of view. It's petty, but the drinks fridge in the rooms don't seem to work.

I did not like the odd policy which seems to not allow staff to board the elevator with customers. Each time staff encountered me in the lift, they would recoil in embarrassment and turn around! Perhaps I need to try a new deodorant.

Tips ---

Hot water is generally good in the morning but seems to be turned off during the day, it then gets hot again towards 5pm) - so avoid showers in the middle of the day unless you enjoy them served like your revenge.

Unless you'd like your room refreshed every five minutes, I recommend using the 'Do Not Disturb' sign. Simpy remove it when you want fresh linen, your bed made, etc.

I didn't have time, but you can book an hour long massage for 300birr.

The complimentary gym has towels and a fridge with cold water, as well as an instructor who is on hand to assist you. Remember the altitude of Addis means you'll need to drink more water than usual and generally take it easier!

There is a hotel doctor. I wasn't ill enough to see he/she, but it was nice to know!

Very Delicious foods, very kind and hospitable waiters. The location is also convenient for guests. The wifi is fast but there is a fluctuation.

2. Has good WiFi Access but the Internet connection is Intermittent.

This is my usual place to stay when in Addis on work trips. I'm not sure why another reviewer feels it is not central - I cannot think of a more central location in Addis! As mentioned extensively here the staff have a really great manner with guests, helpful and friendly but not false or over the top, this includes the guys at the airport who organised their shuttle bus for me alone very quickly on my arrival.
There is a new building being put up directly to the left of the building, very close (as most buildings in Addis are). this means that on one whole side of the hotel the rooms are presently dark and noisy. Although the hotel is obviously pretty full the staff at reception did their best to make alternative arrangements and upgraded my room to deluxe.
Quality of rooms and fittings is a bit tired but clean, as noted elsewhere this is really a three star hotel. I'd happily recommend the Jupiter to business traveller to Addis as great value for money.

By international standards this would be a 3 star hotel. However, it is clean and the internet works most of the time! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The main restaurant has been revamped and looks great.

Spent 3 months here over a 4 month period and so was able to see under the skin a bit. Very friendly and helpful staff without going overboard. All necessary facilities including spa and weight room, laundry etc. Location is not super central but was the one I needed. Restaurant menu has many choices and of good quality with full breakfast choices (except bacon :-). Good jazz band on Thursdays, frequent piano during other evenings.

Reasonable prices and administrative aspects are handled efficiently. Not all rooms are the same so a bit of attention is needed to get what you might seek. Major construction projects underway all around, including on a side with views. It is the Addis curse. Will have to see how that evolves.
