Gorgora Harbour

  This is a harbour of many legends. The ark of the covenant was stolen by Sheba an Ethiopian Queen from King Solmon, it was reported to be hidden somewhere on one of the islands of lake Tana. Now the relic is at Axum.
  
  Gorgora is the most northerly harbour on the lake. Books have been written about the storms, high waves and dangers encountered when sailing from habour to harbour on lake Tana. Note the locals use papyrus boats they string the papyrus together to make sturdy fishing boats, which are still made at Gorgora harbour, see my photographs.
  
  To get to the habour its several hours from Gondor city, there are a few churches to visit as well. One might be able to persuade the local boatman to take them across the lake.
