If you have a day to spare, Debre Libanos Monastery is a great place to visit. It has also a nice museum.

One of the top options for a day out of Addis whether you are keen on Ethiopian Church history or you are a birding to see a few endemics. The museum is ok and the priests who act as guides are doing a good job. I would just advise a clean up because the tracks in to the forest are used as an outdoor latrine. This is a desecration of a holy place!

Worthwhile day trip and tour of church set mid-valley with waterfalls from cliffs above that come to life during rainy season. Tour monk did a good job for both the museum and church. Nearby Portuguese bridge also worth a visit. Baboons work the area pretty heavily.

A splendid modern cathedral in a beautiful old spiritual setting.
Striking stained glass.Excellent guided visit to Church and to the fascinating ecclesiastic museum (in English). A large monastic community.
