African Village is tucked away in a quiet corner (mostly) of Dire Dawa. Aside from the Churches nearby that can get kinda of loud, it is quiet during the daylight hours throughout the week and is one of the cooler places to be during the hotter months of the year in Dire Dawa's desert climate.

They have really good food. I recommend the African Village Pizza, the Roasted Goat for lunch or dinner. You won't go wrong at breakfast, though I prefer to get the ooncalal fir fir (scrambled eggs with onion, tomato, and hot peppers) or the special fuul (which is a local bean dish).

Definitely get yourself a spris (mixed) juice or enjoy a nice Anbeshock juice (it's a sour one). Instead of getting a single macchiato, try a double macchiato. To me the milk to coffee ratio is better.

We've stayed there multiple times and always leave refreshed after sleeping in their cultural in appearance, yet well insulated, bungalows.

Staff is very attentive to meet your needs.

Nice, clean rooms. There are two things that can be considered as unwanted. First one is unstable electricity. Voltage are fluctuating badly and cut offs are frequent. If it happens in the night time, rooms become real hot without ceiling fan. Second issue is the birds in cage placed at the middle of the garden. They are pretty but very noisy especially in the early morning. Honestly, I did not bothered by these birds but someone might not think in the same way. Happy stay !
