I have been going off and on throughout the years sto Mesón de Cándido since I was 17 and went the first time. I have since gone with visitors that come to spend some time in Spain because it’s such an iconic place. It’s a shame that they really on their fame and not their quality for their customers. I have never eaten a more insipid bowl of Judiones in my life! Watery, bland and just plain poorly cooked and undercondimented! The Menestra was of the bagged frozen variety and heavy on peas and potato as fillers. The Magret de Pato was warmed in the microwave and overdone and dry! The puré that it came with even had the wrinkly look that the microwave leaves. My lenguado was tiny (24euros) and I sincerely think it was actually a Gallo fish (cheaper variety of sole) In other words, I am never taking anyone there again. I would have liked to say something while i was there to the owner, but the family I was with was treating us to lunch and I felt it would put a damper on the meal. I was ashamed of having taken them there because it was very pricey for poor quality. What a shame!

The Segovia landmark where sucklings are cooked to perfection, and cut with a plate (by request).
I have nothing but great memories of this restaurant for accommodating my special-needs child, as well as making my family's visit memorable. Thank you!

The famous restaurant for roasted suckling pigs.
Don't miss the show when the chef divide the meat with a plate.
    Quite interesting!
Be prepared to see loud tour groups from China.

One of the best Cordero( baby lamb) and suckling pig I've had in and around Madrid! Worth every bit the drive to eat in this historic landmark!
Fabulous food, a little pricey for the quantity they give you but fabulous quality!
If sitting outside, do wander inside and take photos as there are some famous people who have eaten there in history!
If you are 6-8 people do order their famous suckling pig that comes flat on your table whole( Roman style) and the Chef cracks the skin open with a plate and then destroys the plate in front of you! Dramatic!
If visiting Segovia Candido is the place to eat!

Probably the best cochinillo asado in town. I'm not a fan and still I can recognize the quality.
The place has a history, and so does the family who owns it. The Mesón is quite nice to see, it's a maze of stairs and dining halls.
If you are a big group (8 cochinillo dishes) you will see the "ceremony" of Candido cutting the baby pig with a dish as it's traditional in Segovia, etc (don't want to spoil it to much, it's a must see).
Service was kind and helpful, also had a really nice detail with us.
The worst part: it's crowded (the access stairs are a pain due to the congestion) and not cheap at all. But if you're coming to Segovia just once, don't miss the opportunity!

Definitely the best place to have cochinillo. Excellent service and wine. Been twice and will be back for sure!

Dining here is definitely an experience! If you're visiting Segovia, you have to visit this restaurant. But you have to make a reservation, they do tend to get packed as soon as it opens. Their conchinillo is world famous, hence the hefty price tag for one. But nonetheless, the conchinillo is so tender that the owner shows to the patrons that it could be cut with a plate.

We were invited here by our landlords (from Segovia) And they said that it was one of the best in town, they were right. We really like it. The employees aren't that nice but it doesn't matter that much because the ambiance is great and the food too. They cut the Cochinillo traditionally and you should witness that it is pretty impressive!!!! If you go to Segovia you need to try it.
