The location is great. The mountains are lovely and we were greeted by an owl calling in the morning. It took us 40 minutes to walk to the Acesso norte for the Caminito del Rey.
The hotel decor is rural and depending on your point of view might be described as quaint, or just dated. There was no latch on our bathroom door, so although you could bolt the door when in the bathroom, when nobody was occupying it, the bathroom door remained permanently open. The mattresses were tired sprung mattresses in which you could feel and hear the springs moving about. The TV gets only terrestrial Spanish stations. Free WiFi is good but struggles with streaming video. Reception staff were friendly and helpful but service at breakfast was offhand. Breakfast is a take it or leave it plonked on the table comprising tostados (very nice) with butter, oil, tomato paste, jam, accompanied by chocolate doughnuts, sliced cheese and ham, coffee and fresh orange juice. All very nice, but more choice would be good. We had decided to extend our stay to two nights; before and after our walk on the Caminito del Rey, but after the first night we were not looking forward to another night on those beds.

The hotel was rustic and cosy. They also helped us organise our trip to the Caminito del rey. Their WiFi is painfully slow, though.

Restaurant next to the hotel offers very authentic traditional cuisine that won't break the budget.

The one minus point is for their air conditioner. It was spoilt and they didn't seem too keen on repairing it (even at 37 degrees outside!) We sweated our way through the night.

My favourite hotel on our tour through Andalusia. Built in the quiet mountains near the Guadalquivir-Lake La Posada offers a great service, comfortable rooms and an excellent cuisine with handmade foods. Recommended for a longer holiday.
