I was the member of DIR Gracia last year for almost a year. When I wanted to end the contract prior to the end of my annual contract, the staff member also the manager told me that I can get a entry ticket as a compensation of those left two months that I didn't get to use since you guys can get me full cash refund. I asked the first time at 2017/06/20 and you guys tell me that the ticket series number will be sent to my email within a week after my contract end at 2017/06/30. Guess what? I have sent twice email to your company to asked for the series number you guys promised after a month ! and you guys still didn't reply anything, not even a word ! If this is your manner and way of treating members who ends their contract with you guys, then this is hideous and rude and totally unacceptable !
I really don't recommend anyone to join DIR in any branch if this is not settled well !
I had a very good experience: 1. nice staff 2. every day many free classes 3. modern machines 4. very reasonable prices 5. cancellation was no problem.
Don't go! You sign the contract on the basis of your dialogue with the staff without seeing it when you sign with their machine. You see it only when you receive it signed by e-mail. Their contracts are only in Catalan (while they give other documents in English or Spanish). When I started the contract on 8 May, the staff member told me in English it would stop automatically on 30 June because it was a limited-duration offer, but he left the "Data de Baixa" line in the contract blank. I didn't know that "Data de Baixa" meant "Cancellation date". As I trusted what he had told me, I did not bother investigating the details of the contract in Catalan. They charged me July and August in one time last week (114€), whereas I have already left Barcelona.
Add the fact that the swimming pool closes much earlier than announced so that I was rejected the entrance one hour before official closure time last time I went.
I think it is embarrassing that DiR Gracia only have 2,7 stars here on Google. Meanwhile I understand why. They dont answer you when you contact them with your complaint. I wrote email and send a message through their website for a week ago.
A few of their personal trainers do not know who are the employees and who are the paying clients. One of their trainers, together with his girlfriend, was occupying 3 machines at the same time on a busy Monday at 7pm while paying clients were waiting and jumping away from the machines when this rude personal trainer came back. I asked him if he found it corect and he wanted to start a discuccion. I do not discuss with staff!
The mayority of the staff from reception and other personal trainers are super nice, as Victor and Marc from Reception and Arnaeu, Genis, Jesus and Victor from the Personal trainers, and more.
Maybe it was a good ide to educate your staff to be a little humble when training in private, or maybe they should not train at the same place where they work.
DiR is in comparison to Mc Fit and Duet Fit, not so much better in comparison to the price, so watch out! I pay more than the double and still I have a lot of restrictions on my membership.
and please take this awfull scent you have at the entrance and in the fitness area. When one do sport it is disgusting to inhale other thing than pure air. Many clients here have said the same, so why dont you do anything about it?
Best regards
Alex
Im sorry, ive just grown to hate this place and the employers. If you want to learn how to fight for your rights, its the best place to go and not for free!! Because they keep taking money from you in one way or another blaming the system to be working automatically. Any commercial place that doesnt see clients as humans, but rather sees them as banks is NOT a place to go to. They dont accept for mistakes and they charge you for any. They are not so thorough with their system, their system is like an organic entity working by itself they say.
What happened to me is that they kept charging me 4 months after i canceled my membership, and now they wont call me back and wont pay me back the 4months that they mistakenly took from me.
Go to holmes place or another gym, you will live in peace.
I paid for a three month membership in advance since I didn't know for how long I was going to be in Barcelona.
A bit overpriced for the overall experience and equipment in a city like Barcelona. The classes were nothing special; there are no sanitizing wipe dispensers anywhere to wipe off the equipment. There are no mirrors on the 1st floor where they have their "express" classes / stretch area.
The bathrooms, especially the showers are gross. I don't think I have ever seen a gym where they put mats in the showers. All it does is hide everything that should be cleaned frequently. The sauna smells bad as well.
Wifi only works in the lobby.
Also paying for a monthly membership where you can only go during a certain time of the day is also baffling but since I didn't have a set schedule I purchased the cheapest (yet still overpriced) memebership that I needed.
I am giving it 2 stars based only on the excellent location.
Well.. where to start:
1. You're supposed to bring a lock in order to use the lockers (they do not offer the option of having a personal locker). If you happen to forget your lock, they will stare at you as if you had just sworn allegiance to a terrorist group. They will eventually provide with an alternative (after listening how all their locks got stolen)
2. The showers smell weird.
3. The sauna sucks and also stinks of humidity.
4. In rush hour, it's way too crowded.
In short, avoid it. There are better places around.
This review is about Dir-Gracia.
As many mentioned below, some of the staff are very badly trained! I tried to cancel my membership and instead of canceling they tried to made me buy other packages, and made me come back again. Second time after a week, I tried to cancel and this time they told me that I was too late to cancel, and after many years, I had to loose both money and patience. I had a feeling that the staff is personally nice bunch of people but just do not know how to behave with customers. In my experience they come across just bluntly rude or very unprofessional.
Lessons learnt and could be useful to you:
1. Do not join Dir-Gracia because of the old equipment, dirty bathrooms and very badly trained staff. In my opinion, Dir-Tusset is a good alternative because it is very spacious, clean and have well trained staff. I have been going there from 1 year.
2. Cancel 15 days in advance irrespective of the bullshit reasons they try to give.
3. Always ask for cheaper options (if you want). For example, if you come at different time or not using shower or not using swimming facilities, the price could be very low. Try to ask more than one staff, if some one behaves unprofessional.
