  This is probably the best golf course on the Sol. Been going 18 years and played a lot of good courses including Vallderama, but this is such a good course and they really look after you and make you feel a bit special, right down to picking you up from the car park to delivering you back.

  We played La Reserva on a beautiful day in early October. The course is a parkland course and is looong! Length is not the course's defense, however. Elevation change is. Nearly every tee shot is from and elevated tee and the majority of shots to the green are from below the green and semi-blind.
  Neither a TomTom nor a Garmon GPS watch worked - we simply got wildly incorrect distances from both. While the buggy had a fully equipped GPS system with all the bells and whistles including distance in yards available, that system is no help from 75 yards in because the buggy cannot go there. As Yankees, adjusting from meters to yards, adjusting for elevation change and adjusting for the (fairly benign) wind is just enough adjusting to put a hitch in your swing and a doubt in your mind.
  Generally, however, La Reserva is a free swinging venue. The landing areas are huge from both the black (7,000 plus) and blue (6,000 plus) tees with very few exceptions. There are no drastic forced carries. You really can whale away off the tee and you had better unless you like hitting fairway woods into elevated, undulating greens.
  The green complexes are a delight. Lotsa sand and lots of undulations, but in pristine condition and rolling true. Downgrain and downhill makes you hold your breath but if you play from beneath the hole you can score.
  The par 3s are gems. Plateaus and tucked pins abound and more precision is required, but the pars 3s are "fun" holes.
  The practice facilities are more than adequate. The staff is professional and polite. The restaurant is 4.5 stars and relatively moderately priced.
  La Reserva is simply a thoroughly enjoyable golf course. One might criticize the course for not being challenging "enough" and that is, perhaps, a valid critique. But if, like me, you enjoy a truly picturesque, manicured golf course where you can swing away and still score, La Reserva is for you.
  For the TRULY serious golfer, the venue might be a bit too "toney". But it remains great fun, and a great golfing experience.

  Gorgeous course. 18 different, excinting and beautiful holes. Demaning but not too much for club player. The course was in excelent shape.

  Great hotel modern contemp yet very quirky. Located in Puerto Sotogrande but although they call it a port it is in fact a haven for luxury yachts. The hotel is few minutes walk to the beach. Its not a resort hotel as it has no pool or sports complex. Having said that Sotogrande has all the sporting facilities anyone on holiday would need. A great place to stay and we often book friends visiting to stay here
