As a young, solo traveler, I appreciate places that feel like home and give me a sense of community while I'm away. Blue Door does just that. Located near el Centro Histórico, this family-owned hostel offers everything you could possibly need while traveling, and all for a great price.
The first time I arrived, in Quito, Alejo had a taxi set up for me at the airport so I didn't have to worry about getting to the hostel at 1:00 am in the morning. From the moment I arrived at Blue Door, I instantly felt at home. I was given suggestions of where to visit and the best way to get there. Within a day, I had made friends with people from all over the globe, and many of these people I still keep in touch with today.
In addition to a great community Blue Door attracts, the rooms are always clean, spacious, and have great views. The bathrooms are also kept very clean and the showers are wonderful! I think one of my favorite parts about this hostel is waking up in the morning, going to the window, and seeing the volcanoes that surround the city.
I have visited Quito three times now, and I will never stay anywhere else. To me, this is my second home, that houses my family and friends, and I wouldn't trade that for the world.response / report this review -

My boyfriend and another couple stayed here for just one night before heading out to Galapagos the next day. We booked what was like 2 private bedrooms, 1 private bathroom, and small living room in between the bedrooms. The owner, Alejandro, picked us up from UIO and brought us to his hotel. He was super cool and offered to take us for a quick tour the next morning before we departed (with a small additional charge) on the way back to UIO. The colorful rooms were great and I love the courtyard in the middle of the building. It was nice to have our own bathroom. The next morning Alejandro's parents made us breakfast! Then after the 4 of us took a quick walk around Quito and to the nearby basilica, Alejandro brought us to the equator, but not the fake one with the monument, which was great to see! And then he brought us back to UIO. All 4 of us said that we would definitely stay again.

I spend 3 days at the end of my Ecuador vacation in Quito and stayed here. This place is perfect! It is near everything in the old city (walkable). The Basilica del Voto Nacional is just a couple of blocks away. There are quite a few cafes and restaurants within a kilometre of the place. If you are okay with climbing up some slopes (cannot avoid that in Quito), you can cover all major attractions on foot!
For 15$ dollars, I was surprised by how spacious the room was (a welcome change from the claustrophobia-inducing overpriced rooms in the US). The property itself was beautiful and has an old world charm to it.
I booked my rooms through Airbnb and interactions with the host Alejandro was extremely pleasant. He always responded quickly and was very accommodating. I messed up by reservations slightly (completely my fault) and even though I offered to pay (I was expecting to pay for it since it was my mistake), he didn't charge me anything extra! Even though I didn't plan any trips with him, I believe Alejandro does arrange trips around Quito and Ecuador!
Also, if you care, wifi was pretty fast :P

Really friendly and well presented hostel. The staff are great at helping you get to know Quito and they offer day trips out of town for reasonable rates. The location is perfect for exploring the old town, the center of which is a short walk away.

Top notch accommodation, perfect stay with perfect hosts. If you stay in Quito and don't stay here you are missing out. Their knowledge is next level and they make you feel like family.

Truly the best! I cannot strongly enough recommend staying here. I planned to stay for five days and ended up staying for two weeks They bend over backwards to accommodate their guests, Alejandro picked me up at the airport at 02:30 in the morning with a smile on his face, I don't know how he does it. Very professional, and a lot goes on behind the scenes that makes guests feel relaxed and comfortable. They get knowledgeable, rad people to help out here with the day to day stuff, which doesn't end at 5PM. Stay here for as long as you can, stay for a couple weeks and they'll make you feel like family. The entire Hinojosa family are wonderful, warm people. Nearly everyone is multilingual and you'll feel much cooler for staying in an actual neighborhood as opposed the Mariscal or an expensive place in the heart of Old Town. I will stay here again when I return to Quito. The WIFI is very fast.

I visited it and found very nice rooms for good prices. The location is high and not easy to arrive without a Cabify car o Taxi, but it is because of the location in the nice historical center.
