This hot spring was in a remote location with average mountain views, but the feeling of being there was quite surreal compared to other hot springs I've visited. high altitude highways to get there, but high quality roads and several great restaurants nearby. Definitely a great stay for more than a night!(which I regret only booking and scheduling a single night)

Hot springs don't get better than this. At 10,600 feet in the Andes, you'll be surrounded by rugged peaks as you lounge in a variety of hot pools fed by the same water that will later become part of the largest river in the world.

Comprised of multiple hot spring pools, a spa with a multitude of treatments and a restaurant with adjoining juice bar and adult beverage bar, the area is superbly maintained and clean.

Entrance for adults is $22 and a Hot Stone massage runs $59. Never feeling overcrowded, it's a relaxing day in a fantastic setting.

Fantastic spa hotel in the Andes! Amazing view of glacier. Rooms are very nice. Our room had a safe, fresh water to drink, and a tea station. Just outside the villas were the hot springsmuch hotter than I expected. For a fee they have a more private hot spring area. We had one dinner at the restaurant and it was very good.

The best place to enjoy of thermal water healing and relaxing benefits, surrounded by mountains. Enjoy the combination of hot water with the cold weather of the highlands. The place has lodging options, a restaurant and a Spa, very recommended

Stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon and we're not disappointed. Beautiful thermal spa in a gorgeous mountain setting. Over 20 pools. Try a suite which comes with its own fireplace and private pools. Very good value compared to similar in North America. Food is good but more expensive than elsewhere in Ecuador, however still reasonable (60 dollars for dinner for 2 with wine).

This is a soothing place by every meaning! Facilities and rooms are a bit used but the staff is very kind and they to there best. The private pools in front of every room are awesome especially at night! There is also a little walking trail included. The restaurant and bar offer good quality but are overpriced.

When you catch it on a good day the views from Thermas de Papallacta’s private pools are breathtaking. If you want to avoid all the ruckus, pay a little extra to use the private pools and avoid the public like the plague. He private spa contains a handful of giant hot pools and one ice cold tub to numb the soreness out of your muscles. You are required to wear a spa cap but they provide one at the door.

After a few hours of soaking I decided to come back the next morning and get a massage. Hands down one of the best I have ever had. They keep the area quiet and cozy which really helped me relax. Afterwords they offer you tea and allow you to lounge in a resting area as long as you please.

After the massage I had a meal in their restaurant near the spas. The meal was delicious and just further added to my love of this place.

My only con is that it is very challenging to book a room here. Plan ahead or else you will have to settle for a crappy hostel nearby.

Lovely hotsprings - we visited at night and used the natural (rather than "spa") pools. they have a lot of variety in heat and depth to choose from. very relaxing - its a bit of a trek from Quito but worth it! there is a hotel on site if you have the option to spend the night, and they have bed and breakfast packages for the spa and natural pools.

We had a friend that lives in Quito that took us on a wonderful trip here which was a beautiful drive through the mountains. Once you reach Papallacta, it is much colder in the Paramo, so the warm waters are more than welcoming. The waters are said to have medical properties, I felt great afterwards. The scenery was beautiful and we had a delicious breakfast before leaving. Overall a great experience, I would definitely recommend.

This place is a little piece of heaven. Beauty surrounds the pools, each at a different temperature. We opted to pay the $22 to go into the more private pools and I think it is worth it. My aunt also received a massage package which included and chocolate wrap and she loved it, it was around $100 and included 3 hours of treatment and entrance fee, worth the price she declared. I having lived in Ecuador for over a year, I am not used to paying spa/resort prices for food. You pay a good amount and do not receive a large quantity, this would be the only draw back.

Beautiful backdrop, if the weather is good.
I was on a Gate 1 tour, coming back from the rain forest.
This was a lunch stop, that included some time in the water.
Very nice facility. Multiple pools at different temperatures.
Pools are not very natural, but they are pleasant enough.
Large, clean, spacious changing areas.
Lunch was very good. I had the locally raised fish. Staff was wonderful.
Note: We did not spend the night here, only ate and soaked.

Please do yourself a favor and book a room for at least 2 night. When you book a room you have access to a few small shallow pools which you can use any time you like. Also, you have access to another 14 pools which are a small walk from your room. They have two types of suits, for couples and for families, all with private bathrooms. There is a Spa at an extra cost with jet pools but no other difference. Lastly, I would recommend at least one of the treatments in the spa as it is relaxing.

We went here as a day trip, and it was great! On par with some of the nicer onsens in Japan. Beautiful scenery, and it's co-ed (so hubby and I could soak together). Some pools are hotter than others, and some pools have cooler areas if the water is too hot for you (but it wasn't full of tepid or cool water pools). It had clean water, and we saw one being drained and cleaned, which gave the reassuring impression that they keep the place very clean and tidy (many in other spas had water that looked murky and scary). The scenery is breathtaking, and it has a relaxing atmosphere and lots of pools. I only regret that we couldn't go on any hikes around the area.

Downer: The shower and dressing facilities are all outside, which is cold, so you have to dry off and dress in dressing stalls that are wet and cold. But in comparison to the other baths we visited in Ecuador, this was hands-down the best.
