Make sure you don’t go during foggy/cloudy hours. Otherwise $8 doesn’t worth much. It’s not so cheap. But anyway during sunset it’s nice anyway

A must do if you visit Quito. The views are out of this world. There are some over priced cafes and shops at the top, but the reason you come here is for the epic views of the city and surrounding area. If you are acclimatized and feel like conquering a challenging hike, then going to Rucu Pichincha is also a great way to spend the day.

Beautiful, slightly scary 20 minute ride up to the top of the mountain! I enjoyed the experience and I'm not afraid of heights, but this was still a pretty thrilling attraction. It's very surreal to be that high up in the clouds! TIP: If returning to the station around closing, be sure to ask about the free shuttle to go down to the bottom of the mountain. Taxis wait at the bottom of the mountain for people getting off the shuttle.

Breathtaking views of Quito and the Andes on the way from the cable car and from the top. This is probably my favourite spot/thing to do in Quito. Amazing views. It was so worth it. However, they do ask us to be aware of altitude as some of us could get a bit sick with the altitude. And, babies of age below 18 months are not allowed on the cable car.

DO NOT follow Google Map's directions if you are DRIVING to the cable car station. We followed and got lost as the instructions were clearly wrong after some time. We ended up in a very bad neighbourhood where 2 locals robbed us of a cellphone. This 1 star is for Google Maps, not for the teleferico.

I absolutely loved the Teleferico. Breathtaking (in every sense!) views on the way up, the sharp contrast between the hustle and bustle of the city and the landscape up there is just amazing.

Make sure you go there early and wear hiking clothes, so you will be able to take the easy hike up top for a few hours.

Only downside is that it may be hard to find a completely clear day (well at least it was for us in 2 weeks we stayed there!), but that doesn;t take anything away from the beauty of the place.

Wonderful way to spend a half day! We got there early and stayed at the top
For a few hours. Amazing views, slow grade hiking trails, safe to travel with a four year old. Beautiful views both up and down on the tram.

Great views of Quito from North to South. The hike from the top of the cable car up the mountain is well worth it. Medium intensity ( inexperienced hiker) for about 3hrs on the way up and I'd give an hour on the way down. Ideally a sunny day so the clouds don't obstruct the view. There is a cafe at the bottom and top of the cable cars. $5 cab ride from Quito city which takes about 15 to 20mins.

This brings you up to 4100 metres. It gives good viewpoints if Quito but doesn't quite give you the money shot of the panaromic view of Quito in total.
I did the hike to the volcano, unfortunately cloud blocked most of the view. If you are not up for the hike I'm not sure it's worth the $8.50 to come up here. It's better to come early as nobody was here at 9am when I arrived but at 3pm there was a queue to go down. Bring warm clothing as well, this cold!
