Beautiful and peaceful historical place to stay that offers good food, horserides and live entertainment. Our room was very cozy and we loved the fireplace. We forgot some of our belongings there, they called us right after we left and send them back to Quito. We had a great time and appreciate their kindness.

I can only guess that by the high ratings given in other reviews, they stayed when the weather was pleasant. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, the weather for us was cloudy, cold and rainy. Also, our feeling about dinner was subpar.
We found the hacienda itself is cold and drafty. There is really no heating (room heaters are supplied, but are small and worthless given the size of the room and the height of the ceiling), and while there is a fireplace the hacienda only supplies cheap eucalyptus wood that does not stay lit or even burn. The original structure was no doubt open air, and it has been poorly retrofitted - the windows are single pane and the frames have gaps between them that let in cold air.
The dinner (both, we stayed two nights) was not good. The quality of food was low and the cooking poor.
The manager (or so I assume) was not friendly or helpful. On the second day my spouse came in cold and wet just simply looking for a cup of hot water to make some tea she brought with her. The staff person did not understand what she wanted, and that's okay. But the manager, rather than just telling the staff person what was needed, seem far more concerned with giving my spouse instruction on how to make the request in Spanish (get a life dude).
Also, unless you have you own transportation, you're pretty much stuck here. And there is no good selection of beers (2) or wine (3), or snacks.
Now in all fairness on a nice day and with your own transportation this place would work out probably pretty good, and it is pretty inexpensive. So I should give it a break. But I was here as part of an REI tour, which was costing is $1K a day plus. At that price, and stuck in a cold place with not so good food and no way out, I have to give it 1 star. But your experience could be better if you value cost, can get out to eat/drink and have better weather.response / report this review -

We had lunch. The location is old and wonderful, Simon Bolivar stayed here. The food was good if a bit pricey. I recommend it.

La comida es bastante muy deliciosa, el lugar es muy calido tiene un toque muy familiar y acojedor, la plantas y flores que rodean la hacienda son un regalo para la vista, la atencion y servicios son muy buenos
