The worst experience I have ever encountered. Customer Service is an absolute zero. Front Desk staff and the Site Administrator are an absolute joke.
The gentleman that started our fire and delivered our bags was an A+.
The grounds are nice, decent views and the room was clean. However, simple things like honesty and integrity seem to be lost on the staff.
Oh well, next year it's back to Swiss Hotel in Quito or Luna Runtun in Banos.
Another unadvertised bonus is the 20 mile drive on washed-out (washboard) stone roads to enter the propertythey aren't worth the views that are delivered upon arrival.

This is a beautiful hotel, the view is amazing, a warm fireplace and the hosts are very friendly. To get there is a little bit tricky, starting in Sangolqui you take the road to Rumipamba, go past Rumipamba and after a 10 minutes ride you will see a sign to the right that says 1.7 km to Cotopaxipungo. I recommend riding a SUV since the road is a stony path.
When you get there, you will see a sign to the left that points to the parking lot.
The weather up there is a little bit cold so bring your jackets with you. They have a great fireplace, with comfortable couches that will keep you warm while you admire the mountains surrounding the hotel.
The restaurant within the hotel has an amazing 360-degree view and if you are lucky enough to go on a sunny day you will see the Cotopaxi Volcano and many other beautiful mountains. They serve Ecuadorian food (churrasco, seco de chivo, locro de papa) and some pastas (carbonara, bolognese). There is a variety of drinks (wine, juice, soda, coffee).
It is an upscale place to enjoy with the family or it can also be a very romantic place, in fact the day I was there they were expecting a couple that was coming to celebrate their honeymoon.
They have a variety of rooms that are over 100 dollars a night.response / report this review -

It is a very nice, comfortable hotel, located on the slopes of the Pasochoa volcano, located south of Quito, capital of Ecuador. It offers magnificent views of several volcanoes located around Quito, especially the Cotopaxi volcano, as well as towards the valleys located east of the city of Quito and much of northern Ecuador.

Muy buena atencion en especial administrador. Ambiente muy bueno. Alimentacion los locros son muy recomendables. Habitaciones muy comodas y servicio bueno.

Quite simply one of the most amazing and beautful hotels in Ecuador with spectacular, unhindered views of Cotopaxi Volcano. Food is fantastic, hospitality unrivaled anywhere in Ecuador!

Friendly welcoming hosts. Fantastic location with amazing 360 degree views of surrounding volcanoes, including Cotopaxi. Rooms comfortable and log fires in public areas and room were a bonus. Amazing variety of birds on the property.

Our stay at Cotopaxipungo Hotel was really amazing. We arrived from Galapagos into Quito and drove as part of a private tour up to the hotel, which is located only 90 minutes from Quito. Breathtaking not only due to the altitude at 3300m but even more so because of the outstanding views in all directions - to Cotopaxi volcano on one side and down to Quito on the other side. The hotel's GM Juan Carlos, and in fact his entire team, we truly outstanding and genuinely friendly & hospitable. The entire place was just beautiful. Extremely well-designed rooms, fabulous food which was also prepared quickly and tasted delicious, great service and always going the extra mile. After a really good sleep, I went with our guide to climb to the Rifugio on Mount Cotopaxi, while my wife and daughter were able to stay at the hotel. I returned that afternoon, was able to have a shower to freshen up despite us already having checked out, and then we drove to Quito airport for our flight out of Ecuador. For us the highlight of Ecuador was right at the end at Cotopaxipungo hotel. Thanks Juan Carlos and team!
