I stopped here to rest, have a snack and a glass of wine after walking around Centro. I'd read several good reviews and Lonely Planet recommends Cafe Dios No Muere.
I ordered the pan de queso expecting a slice of good quality French or Italian bread with cheese. Instead I got the equivalent of Wonder Bread! The miniscule amount of cheese between the two slices (one of which was the heal) didn't come close to compensating for the overly dry bread.
Obviously, I can't say anything about the rest of the menu, but the pan de queso leaves a lot to be desired!response / report this review -

DNM is, well, and odd small place but it gets the small things just right. Like po-boys. It may as well be on Bourbon street instead of whatever Calle it is on.

Small intimate setting with amazing food. My girlfriend and I stayed at Friends Hostal right down the alley from Cafe Dios No Muere and brought in a bottle of wine and were expecting to have a little dinner. I ended up getting their wings which were the best I've ever eaten, my Girlfriend got their mushroom risotto and they brought out complimentary onion rings and after dinner they brought out a delicious chocolate cake with an amazing banana creme. We ordered coffee and ice cream to finish it off. A must if you are in the historic center or in Quito in general.
