Today, 25th March 2016, I visited the IBIS Hotel Restuarant in Tlemcen following the recommendation of a friend. I found a place and had to wait 20 minutes until one of the waiters was prepared to come to my table and asked for my wishes. I signalled that I intended to eat somethink and asked for the menu. My waiter friend than explained that he himself is the kenu and named three available dishes. Well, at least a start. Since he forget to mentiion the prices of each dish I enquired further and, surprise, then suddebly there appeared a printed menu. Of course my selection was not available but I was referred to same previously mentioned 3 plates of which I finally oreded the beef, value 1500 Dinar. To be sure, I further asked about the garnishment, which I was told were pommes frites. Well, I don't like pommes and the waiter generoulsly offered a salad instead, A little later he came back with a bread basked and, after I had started to collect some cutlery from the neighbouring table, also brought knife, fork and serviette. For the salad I directed to what looked like the leftovers of a salat bar and which consisted mostly of 2 extremely hot sauces (which other people had not dared to touch, some carrot salad and olives.

A little later the bee arrived - a tiny plate but delicious, The followed the Pommes, which I didn't want butw seemed be be put there for decoration, sinc ethey were ice cold and obviously not intended for consumption.

At the end the bill arrived and showed a total 3600 Dinar (33 Euro), itemized for meet (1900 Dinar), wine 600 Dinar (correctly calculated in line with the menu) and 1100 Dinar for a 'buffet'. I though that this was a bit too much of an exaggeration and called for the manager. In response I was at least introduced to the cook instead. The cook regretted that he was unable to decide on this matter, apologized that they had a little problem tonight and offered me some extra food instead but I was not hungry any more and asked for the hotel manager instead. The waiter added that I the menue I had seen was outdated. The two staff accepted my request and disappered. When half an hour later no hotel manager had turned up I was nformed that he wasn't around today- I have no idea why I was not told earlier. At least I had eaten enough (bread) not to fell hungry again over all that endless waiting time and left while paying what I considered to be adequate.

Conclusion: this restaurant can be recommended for everone who likes discovering some traces of really good food among some other overpriced imitation of a meal - and at the same time wants to undergo an experience to remember for quite a while.
