Great Location and Food. Go for the shrimps à la papi. Open kitchen and good service.
Overall, really good. Shrimp's are small but they put a lot. Reason for 4 star instead of 5 is that everything was just way too salty. Still, very good and fairly price for the quality.
The flavoring of the food was amazing! The service was very good also.
We are very thankful to the reviewer who suggested going upstairs. It was a very nice environment. It was windy so we took a table back towards the middle of the restaurant. We could still see the ocean clearly.
We did stand around for a while waiting for someone to acknowledge us when we first got there. We weren't quite sure what to do so we finally asked a waitress if there was an upstairs. She pointed to the stairway for us and off we went.
I had to linguine with chicken and mushrooms: outstanding in flavor and quantity.
My wife had the seafood platter with shrimp, octopus, tuna and conch.
Beware! This restaurant charges the 18% tax + 10% tip at the end. All restaurants are mandated to do this but some don't while others include it in the price. The 10% tip doesn't always get to the servers!
Disappointing!
This has been one of our favorite restaurants in the area.
Tonight however was disappointing. The famous sauce has changed, the shrimp were overcooked, the chicken dry.
One of our party asked for sauce on the side but the meal came with sauce applied. Took a long time to get that sorted out.
WiFi not working.
Not what we are used to.
May be a while before we go back.
Service was good. Food was excellent. View was excellent.
We live in Cabarete and love going to La Casita de Papi. Every time anyone comes to visit us we have to bring them here. It is the best seafood in Cabarete with an amazing ambiance. But they do have non-seafood options, that a few of our guests always try and they have loved it. I can't stay away from the shrimps a la papi! We finally had the chance to meet the owner and he was a very kind man with great restaurant ethic. I highly recommend eating here! AND, they DO take reservations! So book in advance if you are going for dinner. They make sure that if you would like to sit on the beach that you will have a table inside as well if it starts to rain! Brilliant. Thank you for a great evening.
The shrimp de estilo papi was one of the tastiest dishes I have ever had, and easily the best in my experience throughout the Dominican Republic. The service was above average. The beach views were lovely.
Best on the beach. Excellent food, lobster & shrimp their specialty. Foreign managed, quality control, but relaxing meals under the palms. Recommend reservations. If you have time for only 1 meal on the beach, make it here. You won't regret it!
The lagostino a papi is probably one of the best things I've eaten all year. Lobster is carefully poached and moist, served with a rich seafood gravy that is to DIE FOR.
The food is always delicious. Takes a while but is worth it
I have tried a simple pasta in the place and the sauce was not good (too much garlic). Anyway, the service in the place was fine and the location in the beach is amazing.
Very nice restaurant in front of the beach. I really appreciated the courtesy of the staff and the waiters too. However, I've not been very satisfied with the food. I ordered a tomato pasta, and I received a pasta with a huge amount of garlic on the top instead. The funny thing is that garlic wasn't even mentioned among the ingredients of the dish in the menu. However, a friend of mine was really happy with his food, I'll give this restaurant another chance in the future.
Famous as the best place in cabarete to eat sea food Great location directly on the beach
La casita de papi never disappoints me, the food as all ways is well prepared and tastes delicious.
However this is my 4th year visiting this restaurant and I have noticed that the service in this visit was slow, heard the employees complaint of labor exploitation and the amount of food served have been cut about 30 percent from previous visits.
If you want a nice dinner on the beach of cabarete this is one the best place for sure. During the weekend or in high season better do a reservation
Good service, just ok food.
The pasta was tasteless and spongy. This may be a typical DR dish that I don't like, but I am guessing not.
2 at the table got the house seafood dish and while it was a lot it was nothing special. The Mojitos were overly sweet. The best thing was the bread for the table and the tomatoes. Desert was very good too.
Seafood treat
We enjoyed some of the freshest plumpest shrimps in Caribbean. The staff were helpful and the beachside location creates a relaxed atmosphere uninterrupted by the commotion around other parts of the strip.
Hmmmmm, when arriving all looked very nice. The menu is small but that doesn't mean it's not good. My partner ordered the grilled chicken and I ordered the 8oz Angus fillet. The food was very well presented, we think. The lights are so low that you can't really see what's on your plate. We started and straight away noticed how rich the sauces were. A bit too rich for our taste. The chicken was smothered in mushroom cream (more cream than mushroom) sauce and a bit overcooked. It was so well cooked that even the bones crumbled mixed in the cream sauce it was a struggle to fish out the bones. Every bite had bits of chicken bone and it was impossible to fish them out on sight as the light was too dim. My steak was cooked to perfection but as I came to the end of my meal I started to feel queezy from the shear volume of cream. The prices advertised were reasonable only to notice at the bottom of the menu that prices were excluding 10% service charge and 18% TAX. Why would they not include those? Why do we have to do the sum of working out what we end up paying. Considering you're on an island, would it be easier to be straight with your customers and quote prices all inclusive? We will not be coming back simply because there is better food and nicer places around to choose from.
Super tasty dinner. Had the tomato & basil linguini (it was a garlic lovers paradise), plus the tomato & mozzarella salad.
Included was bread and dip free of charge and a mamajuana to finish off our meal. Highly recommended.
Solid choice for dinner on the beach. A bit more tranquil than some of the other locations on the strip. Great views of the Ocean. Portions are large and food quality was better than expected.
Great place, amazing food, great customer service and affordable prices
