I didn't go to the island, but used the beach and restaurant quite a bit. It wasn't super busy even though it was high season, which was nice. The restaurant menu is very comprehensive, especially for seafood. I managed myself a perfectly decent vegan meal by ordering a few different side dishes.
The service is pretty good, although on island time. There is a buffet which looked OK, though pretty average. There is a small convenience store in case you forget something you need for the island.
The swimming in the ocean is excellent. Well demarcated swimming areas and crystal clear waters. Will definitely go again.
It's exactly what is in the name. PARADISE!
Excelente lugar para pasar un día muy divertido. No hay tiempo para aburrirse. La excursión del bote banana puede ser un poco peligrosa. La visita a los manglares es espectacular. La isla de cayo paraíso es extraordinaria. La comida es buena.
When you arrive to the beach immediately natives will try to lure you on a trip to a few km distant island. Do not be afraid to haggle on price. the island is gorgeous. If you do not have a diving glasses can get them there rent free. Underwater you can see the amazing underwater world of fish and corals and other animals
es muy encelente muy bueno
benga a visitarlo
We are staying next door and we have asked them to remove their boats from in front of the beach and they refuse to be nice 08/04/2016

We have visited the Paradise Island & The Mangroves during our trip to Dominican Republic at the beginning of 2015. I usually divide my reviews into PROS and CONS, but in case of Paradise Island it’s really hard to find any CONS. Before going into details I would like to mention and thank Milton from DominicanAirport(Dot)com who organized our trip to the Island (transportation from/to Barcelo Puerto Plata, tickets, and lunch after the trip). If you prefer to see how the Paradise Island looks like go to YouTube and search “Paradise Island & The Mangroves (#Travel) Cyganik”). With all this being said, now it’s the time for breakdown:
PROS:
- Getting to From the Island: Great Trip on extremely primitive speedboat (adds to the thrill). Our “captain” on the way back was maybe like 13 years old… To me that’s a value added, but I realize that for some people it might be scary
- On the Island: Nice views, plenty of fresh fruits, & drinks included in price. Brugal is there too.
- Snorkeling: Really nice. We did this in few places, and this one is among the best ones yet (behind the Big Island of Hawaii). If you refer to our video on YT you will know what I mean.
- Mangroves: Great Ride through the park. Beautiful nature, views, and thrill of going through the narrow channels on a speedboat.
- Lunch: When you return from the trip, you will be able to taste local cuisine prepared by locals. This is always a great cultural experience.
CONS:
- Lack of Bathrooms on the Island: Yes. If you really need to go you are in trouble. Especially #2. Period.
- Beggars on shore: I understand that DR is not the richest place on the planet, but this bothered me a little bit.
ADVICE: Remember to bring your own towel. If you don’t you will get dry by the sun, and lay on sand.
Altogether, the trip to the Paradise Island was a very pleasant experience that will remain in our memories. I invite you to check out video on YouTube to see how it looks.
