I had a great experience! During my stay, I received a great care from everyone I came in contact with. The front office was informative and patient.
I am happy that International Medical Center is the preferred hospital for my insurance! I was always informed and treated kindly with respect.

I was directed to this service provider by Vista Sol Punta Cana Hotel reception, where I had asked for a medical service to x-ray my injured hand. I agreed to pay USD 120 for a consultation. After measuring blood pressure and temperature the caregiver said the price was USD 400 because he was going to give me a pain killer injection. I refused because I wanted an x-ray no pain killers. He said that then the price was USD 210 and his ambulance would take me to an x-ray center. He then wouldn't quote a price for the ambulance and also not give me an address for the x-ray so I could go myself. His justification for USD 210 instead of 120 that the real price for the consultation was USD 160 plus USD 50 for the invoice. I objected that an invoice over USD 160 should naturally include the price for the invoice and he said in that case I'd get an invoice scribbled in Spanish and nothing printed in English that I could use to claim from my insurance. What followed was a deplorable discussion that in the Dominican Republic an invoice in Dollars was payable in Pesos at a credit card surcharge of 10%, meaning he was asking for DOP 8096 instead of DOP 7200 (USD 160 * 45). Or else I wouldn't get back my passport, which he'd taken for a photocopy. He then agreed to DOP 7360 (at 46 Pesos for a Dollar) in cash. I brought him DOP 8000 from the hotel ATM and he refused to hand back my change, saying he could only give me USD 10 cash for my 640 Pesos change. This was not a medical service, and I find it hard to believe the person seeing me was a real medical doctor. Effectively I paid USD 167.70 for a major annoyance, no x-ray, to be given back my passport.
