Buffet options were amazing, the seafood was the best I've ever had. Blown away by what they offered. Front desk staff were great, the room service staff was the best by far. Weird part about the resort was at night everyone disappears. There was a night club but it wasn't packed, we couldn't figure out if everyone legit went to bed at 10pm or if they went out. Not very many Americans here, a lot of French and spanish. Also. Don't walk along the beach at night. There are no signs posted but it's dangerous for tourists. There are also NO sharks. We were told in the US there were but it is false. The beach was a dream. Warm, easy surf, shells, not overcrowded.
Excellent beach area, grounds are expansive, beautiful and well maintained, rooms are clean but could use a fresh coat of paint (pretty typical for a Caribbean location that's not 5-star). The staff are a mixed bag, front desk are the worst, grounds keepers and room attendants are awesome, the restaurant workers are half and half. If the staff were all as good as the room cleaners this place would be amazing.
This place was great!! Service was amazing. Waiters were so hospitable. Beach was beautiful. Rooms were cleaning daily. I would definitely visit again.
A very expansive and nice layout for the resort. Many a la carte restaurants which were fantastic. The buffet did not vary and was tiresome by the end of the week. Friendly staff and not pushy entertainment staff. Unfortunately our room was very hot the last few days and they just said it's hot in the Dominican and couldn't do anything about it. Even though we know the air conditioning was broken and our toddler woke at 2 am staying "hot, hot Mom" and all he was sleeping in was a diaper.
Really great resort with super nice customer service. There's lots of stuff to do if you plan correctly. The kayak and sports stuff is all free to do but you do need to sign up before hand just fyi. The food was great too and the scenery was amazing with free-roaming birds and streams with turtles and fish. The garden is a must see with very beautiful natural decorations. The one reason I don't give a 5 star is because there are a lot of companies that rent space in the resort to sell stuff to the tourists. Lot's will try to sell you knick knacks, paintings, and especially they will try very hard to sell you the lifestyle vacation package. Overall, the resort was an incredible blast and there were so many things to do (especially with the pleasant surprises like free coconuts)
The basic rooms are dated and need alot of updates and maintenance. But you have to ask yourself, how much time do you actually spend in your room. It's a basic room, stuff will work, a/c will work, beds are clean. The buffet food isn't the greatest but all inclusive vacations usually aren't. Unless you make the reservations at the restaurants. Nice resort pool. Beach is close. Staff is friendly. Lots of people trying to sell you stuff. On par with Cuban vacations but Cuba is usually less expensive.
Our family really enjoyed our time at this resort, including the food, the grounds (well maintained lawns and trees, lush shrubs, beautiful ponds full of fish and turtles, lots of friendly birds - ducks, geeze, turkeys, pheasants, peacocks, etc.) and the beach (snorkeling along the artificial reef about 100m from the water's edge is pretty good). Would definitely consider going back to this resort in the future.
I went here using a day pass so I didn't see the rooms. The day pass cost about $40 USD I thought it was a good value. The food was very good. the drinks were a little weak which for me is a good thing. The beach was clean and there seemed to be a variety of activities going on. I would definitely go again.
One of the nicest resorts I've been to.
You see lots of staff around maintaining the resort.
The restaurants that need reservations aren't that great which is why I only gave it four stars otherwise it would've been 5.
You have to pay $10 a day to rent the cabanas around the pool or on the beach and I would recommend it. They're comfortable and it's nice to be able to spread out.
Overall- I would definitely recommend this resort. It was absolutely beautiful.
It is not a very modern resort. Definitely not English speaking friendly. You will be harassed by the locals swarming the resort trying to sell you goods and packages. They are super aggressive and it's huge turnoff. There are about 5 English tv channels in the room. There is no free WiFi on the resort inside your rooms. I bought (2) 25 hours for $25 Wi-Fi plans so that I could have Wi-Fi throughout and it worked 5-10% of the time. There is no excellent customer service on the resort. It's supposed to be all inclusive including meals and drinks and they wait until you try to purchase premium alcohol to tell you that it's only for VIP.
The best part of the stay was the spa. They treat you incredible!
The best part of this "resort" are the drinks. There are plenty of bars, never more than a 2 minute wait and the drinks tasted great. Also, the grounds are beautiful- lots of local plants and animals abound. Most of the staff was friendly, despite the language barrier. Here are the negatives:
-A/C- the only area with air conditioning is the room. You'll be sweating everywhere else, including while eating dinner, shopping, or sitting in the lobby. Not fun at all.
-The food was pretty awful. There was always a large selection of items to choose from at the main 3 meals, however it all tasted bad. My husband and I came home ravenous and had lost a few pounds. I had undercooked chicken and overcooked seafood at least 4 times during my stay. The dessert table was beautiful and someone in the bakery area is clearly gifted in their presentation skills, however, all of the desserts tasted the same, despite being decorated differently or having a different color. Weird. The 24hr "snack bar" was the biggest joke: around 5 pitiful looking salad toppings, 2 sliced fruit plates (which all had flies buzzing in or around), french fries, hot dogs (no buns) and hamburger patties. Just bad.
-Salesmen. They corralled us to the VIP area and tried to sell us a vacation package for "next time" as well as show us the VIP amenities. They did look great, but who wants to spend more right after check-in after you've already paid thousands for a trip?! Why have two different sections?! Then, there were the vendor tables set up. They were aggressive and didn't take no for an answer. I didn't book a resort to be confined to my room because I didn't want to have to say no one more time. And they were unavoidable because they were right around the pool and dining areas.
-Beach. It was beautiful. It was also filled with rocks and sticks both in the water (which is just how nature works) but also on the beach/sand. I cut my foot and my husband cut his knees. There were nice cabana beds, which were $10. Not included in my resort fees. Great. So, the regular beach chairs were behind those, preventing good views of the beach if others were in the beds.
-Room key didn't work on two separate occasions so we had to walk all the way back up to the lobby and wait for them to fix it.
-Room was basic and had a moldy smell.
-WIFI- was apparently only for VIP guests or with extra payment.
I willed myself to have a good time, but I would definitely NOT stay here again. It was not a pleasurable experience.
Great hotel. Very friendly staff, nice food, clean, the beach is clean and the bars are amazing, reasonable prices.
Overall we really enjoyed our 6 night stay. Suggestion: upgrade to the VIP at some level, it really makes a difference. Do it prior to checking into the hotel, it will be a lot less money. We upgraded through Vacation Express!! There are different VIP levels, but ours allowed us the best of both worlds. We could mingle with the masses at the large pool, bars and beach and when needed we could retreat to an adult only, calmer area of the beach and separate pool with calmer bars, snack and lounge areas as well. Pro's: friendly staff, the language barrier wasn't too much of an issues, there was usually someone who spoke English or could translate. The resort grounds were so pretty and vibrant. There was food (very average tasting at best) available all through the day and night and the drinks flowed all day and night as well. We met a lot of friendly and interesting people from all over the world. Con's: Our room was nice because we had the VIP upgrade, we had a ceiling fan, but the room was still not cool enough for what we are used to, but we made it work. It took us 3 days, yes 3 days and several trips to the VIP and main desk just to get face towels. We got 2 on Wednesday and 1 on Thursday. Oh well at least we had hand and bath towels. Personal con for me, the germ a phobicthe birds eating off the buffet and and the gnats on the fruit and sweets, but we understood this comes with the open restaurant concept and beach living, so we just got over it, and were careful about watching our food selections. Most frustrating con was the inconsistency in services, food, drink quality and assistance received. Everything depended upon who you asked, when you asked and simply who was at the desk etc The spa was beautiful but disappointing. I had 3 days booked and the Jacuzzi only worked one of the three daysthe steam and sauna was fine but after much confusion over my appointment time and services, I cancelled my massage, No big deal, the pool, Balinese bed and the beach were relaxing enough. Last con was the pool/swimming hours ended too early. After dinner there wasn't much to do and the evening entertainment was not very entertaining. Overall it was a pleasant, beautiful and relaxing vacation.
Great hotel for the money. caveat emptor; bilingual is a plus (practice your Spanish), smile say hola and staff will do the same. Lavish garden landscape, exotic birds, book a room with pool view. Several restaurants, recommend the Japanese. Nice pool area, beautiful beach. Animation throughout the day, nice shows at night. Tip, tip, tip; average monthly income is less than $ 200. Disconnect yourself from the outside world Finally, enjoy it. It's your vacation.
The rooms are like going to the cheapest motel you can think of, straight trash. The snack shop by the reception area they overpriced they charge $6 for one can of Pringles. Every corner you walk on the resort you have outside vendors harassing you to buy some of their stuff. We Evan had someone we thought was trying to help us walk us right to a VIP area trying to get us to do a timeshare. The food was not good and its outside where birds are flying in and out of the place. The pool area was nice and the eating erea is nice besides the birds. The people at the front and in the restaurants are nice not so much the folks in the stores.
This is a great all inclusive destination that is family friendly. Includes multiple dining options (some require reservation) including the Buffet, Japanese Steakhouse, Brazilian Steakhouse, Mexican Restaraunt, Local Seafood, etc. There are multiple bars to choose from as well spread throughout the resort (Pool, Beach, Plaza, etc). Live entertainment is offered throughout the week utilizing a theater, the main plaza, and the beach. Coffee/Espresso bar is available in the plaza as wull as numerous shopping options. The Beach is gorgeous with crystal clear water , multiple seating options and just a stunning coastline. Staff is super friendly and always seemingly delighted to help.
We had a great stay but I think it was all because we upgraded to VIP. Completely affordable and worth the upgrade @ $20 per person per day. It included a renovated room, exclusive pool and beach area, additional lounge areas, free WiFi access in VIP areas, upgraded drinks, and free restaurant reservations. We noticed long lines at the bars and towel stands but as VIP guests we were able to go to different places instead. The upgraded drinks (all hand made using middle shelf liquor) were indescribably better than what was served at the regular bars. The grounds were really pretty and enjoyable to walk around. Most of the guests are European so we got to meet all different people. The language barrier was challenging at times even with staff but it forced me to use what Spanish I do know. I appreciated that push.
After reading the reviews I asked my husband to cancel our trip. I'm so glad he convinced me to go anyway. If I would have listened to the horrible reviews I would have missed a great vacation! Our room was clean, the food was great, everyone spoke English for the most part, but it would help if you knew basic Spanish for some things that people have difficulty translating. The wait staff were very friendly. Everyone said Hola! Yes, we had a few mosquitos flying in our room (this is a tropical island). We said something and they were in our room spraying before we even walked back. They even spray the beach at night as well and they have security 24/7. Go to Maui -they have ants. It doesn't matter how clean you are. If we needed something they fixed it immediately it. This is not a $1000 a night hotel, this is life. I'm not sure why some people are complaining. We loved it and can't wait to go back and stay longer.
We are in our third day and my advice if you don't know French or Spanish do not book in this resort.
Today it's my fifth day and we killed a cockroach, see the attached photo 😳😏😜 it's a big one
My boyfriend and I vacationed here this past week. The resort was nice. The food was not great. I lived off fruit and bread. The people at the front desk were rude as well as some other staff. What I will say is I am glad my boyfriend and I updated to VIP status. We were lucky to have a man Eduardo who helped us with everything. If we did not upgrade to VIP I would not have enjoyed this resort at all. Many of the solicitors will try to hustle you, do not accept anything for free! Most of the bartenders were friendly, but they ignore you from time to time. Bring shampoo and conditioner theirs is useless. The ocean is phenomenal however the resort is in a sketchy area so do not plan on leaving.
We had a great time! They have a very good service, the people was very nice, the food was good and there are a lot of activities to do! I strongly recomend this hotel.
Horrible!!!!!! As a Dominican I must say that their service was unprofessional and shameful. They definitely need to remove a few stars from their logo at the front desk.
As I walked into the room I booked I found a dirty ripped up mattress next to my bed the fridge wasn't stocked and when i asked the lady why she laughed and said you only get 2 beers and a soda.
So much for an all inclusive stay huh.
The cleaners took forever and i asked for a water to take my medication and they never brought it to the room. The only thing they delivered fast was the boot to the ass letter stating to be out by 12 or you get charged.
The staff at the front try to talk trash in spanish about the clients which i found completely wrong. This location needs a big facelift.. And to think i was planning on having my wedding here.
I have pictures of the ripped up mattress up under their photos scroll through take a look.
Update: they removed the pictures of the ripped up mattress off of the gallery because it has gotten over 5k views. I re uploaded the picture showing the ripped part.
