Had the best charter experience of my life with Vlad and Big Papi. I'm super experienced and had ZERO complaints about big marlin. I will only ever do charters through them, they know where the fish are

Just wanted to take a moment and thank you Captain Yustas and his team for a great time on our fishing trip on Fortuna (Big Marlin Charters Punta Cana) we had this January. It was a deep sea fishing charter and we spent 6 hours fishing and touring, and it was awesome from the start to finish. Captain Yustas and Alex are great guys who really know their stuff. We were all impressed by their knowledge and professionalism. We have to say that they were truly oriented on “big weight results” because on that day the fishing went slow and this team did everything they could to put us on fish. At the end of the day our catch was three impressive size Mahi Mahi. Besides fishing techniques and all that was involved in the process, we learned from Cap Yustas and Alex a lot of useful information and heard interesting stories about life in Punta Cana. It was very fun - entertaining and enjoyable for everyone. At the end of the trip we asked if it’s possible to spend an hour for snorkeling. Yes! Cap Yustas had snorkeling equipment on the boat and we all jumped into the crystal clear water, which was very relaxing after fishing. We were back to hotel happy with fish for dinner.
We wouldn't go with anyone else and can't wait to go back for another fishing adventure! Thanks again for the memories!

We were advised this charter by our tour operator. They said this was
the best fishing you can get on to in Punta Cana and the crew is very
professional. So we booked for the first dates in December. Their system
is very efficient and easy, i confirmed reservation within few minutes.
The company is really very professional, no delays, services as
described, good English, great attitude! Fishing was great, we got lots
of assistance from the 1st mate, gear was amazing and overall condition
of the boat was very close to being perfect. We went with a friend of
mine, we usually like to party in a bar or by the pool on the vacation,
but this fishing experience was even more exciting! We caught few big
barracudas and some mahi mahi. That was a lot of fish! We had it cooked
for us and our friends from the resort and it was one of the best
dinners we had! I absolutely advise Big Marlin Charters to anybody who
wants to go deep sea fishing in Punta Cana, those guys are the best!

We went fishing on the boat Sherlock during our last trip to the DR.
It wasn’t our first experience and we had seen different boats and crews. This charter was one of the best we had. The boat was very clean and more new as fishing boats are usually. Their 1st mate Vladimir speaks English well enough for easy understanding.
We booked a 6 hour charter, they picked us up from the Hard Rock resort and brought to the beach in a nice air conditioned private van. Soon we boarded and started on the way into the ocean.
Weather was perfect for fishing, small waves and bright Caribbean sun. I enjoyed tanning on the way in. Boat was very spacious, we had a lot of space for ourselves. It was just me and my husband but even a bigger family would have felt comfortable on the boat this size.
Finally the fun started, we hooked and pulled out three different size mahi mahi and the biggest one was pretty big! But our trophy catch was waiting for us almost by the very end of our trip. It was very exciting to be fighting that fish! Our mate said that it was a Marlin from the way it pulled, and it was indeed. So strong and energetic, amazing creature. We all had to work really hard to pull it in but once we did it was like winning a first prize!
We had our fish cooked in a local beach restaurant and it was simply delicious. Our way back was easy and relaxing, we all needed rest. This trip made our day as it was a wonderful change to our routine vacation time.
We were absolutely satisfied with services we got from this company and can recommend it to anybody else who wants to go fishing in Punta Cana.

Water was rough in the morning, but crew started early to beat the other boats out. Boat was clean and crew was constantly washing it . They really worked hard to help us catch fish. I think they were as excited when we caught fish as we were. We were the only boat in the area that brought back a Marlin. On the way back in all the other fishing companies heard we caught Marlin and they were asking where at so they could take out their customers. Captain Yustace (as owner) kept in constant contact with me from the day we booked until the time we arrived. Even though he had injured his shoulder and could not go out he made sure he came to the boat after, and greeted us. Captain Cocoa, Alex, and Richard were amazing and made sure we were fed, hydrated, comfortable, and having fun! We caught a large White Marlin and a Barracuda. Don't mess with any other company. Go with these guys. They are the best!

Worst offshore fishing charter I've ever been on. They only had one 4 hour slot available the 8 days I visited Punta Cana so I took it. Their website states "On-board we serve you cold drinks: run, beer, cola, sprite, water and a lunch (sandwiches, fresh fruit and vegetables)". There was a small cooler on deck with bottled water, cheap beer, 1 coke, & 1 half empty bottle of rum. The drinks were barely below room temperature because the cooler did not have one piece of ice in it. Only about 3" of semi cool water at the bottom. As far as lunch goes, we never saw or were offered anything to eat. No sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, nothing

The captain of the boat was someone they had just hired because the owner/captain was injured (at least that is what we were told) and he obviously had very little experience fishing for anything off the coast of Bavaro Beach. He also didn't speak any English at all so communication was nonexistent.

The 1st mate knew very little English. He was friendly when he understood what you were saying but silent for the majority of the trip.

The Vessel: It was a decent size boat that was kept clean but it is very worn out. The "white leather couches" were merely heavily stained and torn vinyl. The bathroom was patchwork repaired. The "bar"lets just say it's a hunk of wood with old, rusted, and non working appliances.

Fishing. We caught 1 very small barracuda (which isn't a desirable catch). I touched a rod 1 time the entire trip and my wife never even got to put her hands on a rod.

We basically paid $550 for a boat ride on a well worn out boat, luke warm water, and disgusting beer. I've never felt more ripped off in my life.

AVOID THESE GUYS AND THIS "COMPANY"

We did a fishing charter with Big Marlin in April during a two weeks vacation. I just went along with an idea of my son and friends, and it turned out to be such a great fun it was totally unexpected for me!
First of all I would like to point out the level of service! It is simply perfect, all the crew are attentive, professional and really care for you to have just the time of your life fishing with them! Cap Yustas and the first Mate were with us all the time, they helped, advised and made the whole trip a great entertainment for all 6 of us.
Another point is the boat itself, you don't see it from the shore, but its a truly luxurious fishing yacht, not something you would expect to see. Its perfectly clean, maintained, equipped. We felt super comfortable from the first moment there. They even have a marble bar table and a huge white leather couch! There's plenty of shade and rest areas. Although I really enjoyed spending time of the fly bridge, the view is spectacular!
The yacht is very powerful, trip to the fishing zone was fast. Just don't forget to take your anti sea sickness pill (I did :-)
All the process of finding fish and catching it was something which I never expected to be so much fun, its really exciting feeling, the drive and adrenaline, especially because the crew are really professionals in fishing. We brought to the shore 3 dorados and a mahi mahi fish. But we got really close to catching a big one! I think it was Marlin, so we already planned on going for it again next time we are in the Caribbean. Next time I definitely want to do it with the same crew again, they are great at what they do.
Finally I want to say Thank you to Cap Yustas, the crew and the navigating Cap for the great time we had. This charter is something really different you can do in the DR, it is full of excitement and drive. See you again in winter!
