While our transportation and the dolphin interaction itself were truly wonderful there was much else that cast a shadow on the combined experience. After paying $150/pp we were bombarded with photographers at every corner talking staged shots while other staff berated is constantly about using our own cameras and confiscating my wife's phone even though she was just attending our the year old outside the dolphin pool. We've previously been to a similar park in the Bahamas and not only were you provided with lunch, drinks and a huge park where you can do plenty of other things besides swimming with the dolphins you were also allowed to take your own photos. That wouldn't even be bad if the prices were reasonable but we were expected to pay a total of $200+ for access to the digital copies. Simply offensive extortion.

We had a great time. The organization could of been better. No photos are allowed to be taken around animals so they can charge you extra. The snorkeling was great. They provided snacks and alcohol on boat ride.

Had an awesome time swimming with the dolphins.. it has been my dream since I was a little girl. We paid $300.00 for 2 of us to swim with them. They take pictures of you as you swim with the dolphins, one with a stingray, one with a sea lion and one with birds. After we were done, we went to purchase the pictures and they were $150.00 for the pictures with the dolphins PLUS an extra $15.00 for each extra picture (sea lion, stingray, birds) so we were looking at another $195 JUST FOR PICTURES! It made me sick to my stomach. I couldn't believe it was such a rip off. I would NEVER go here again!!! And I want to warn each of you before you get into the same predicament we did.

We visited here to swim with the dolphins. The Dolphins and the Stingrays are very well taken care of in the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall this was a great experience. But if you want pictures of the entire day it will cost you double of what you paid for the excursion

We have snorkeled at nine different Caribbean locations, the Great Barrier reef, and the Galapagos Islands; this was by far our poorest experience.

It took a while to get everyone checked in at the entrance and the briefing we received left everyone confused. Walking down the trail everything suddenly came to a stop and we were stuck in a hot area while they were taking pictures of all the groups with birds. Once we passed through that area we were once again in line, this time for them to take pictures with a sea lion.

Then we went to the boat to drop of our gear and got issued snorkeling gear to go swim with the nurse shark; water was murky, and shark couldn’t be found until after we got out of the water.

Next was pictures with the stingray; nothing like stingray city in the Caymans.

Finally, we got onto the boat to go snorkeling. The snorkeling spot they took us to was the second worst we’ve ever experienced. This does not mean that there is no good snorkeling in Punta Cana, because the next day we took a different excursion with a different company and the spot they took us to ended in the top five of all our snorkeling experiences.

The snorkeling stop only lasted for about twenty minutes and then we took of for the Natural Pool, which is a party sandbar where many of boats go to.

At the exit they were trying to sell us the photos that they took for some outrageous prices. If this is your once in a lifetime trip, yes, buy the photos. However, we’ve gotten much better photos in other locations for a lot less money, and our underwater cameras provided us with all the photos we needed.

The staff on the boat was outstanding and we were served a sandwich and drinks on the boat; this was the only positive experience on this excursion.

Overall, we would not recommend this trip to travelers with previous experiences, but for families with kids who don’t travel a lot this might be a good experience. The dolphin experience also appeared to be bellow par when compared to other locations in the Caribbean.

Great experience! Besides swimming with the dolphins there was a parrot show and sea lion show that were included in the price. We enjoyed it all!

I went there with my wife full of excitement to see and play with the dolphins etc. Went in there and saw the Dolphins full of marks in there bodies like if they were trying to escape. They are all caged up in the beach pool thats fenced up. The dolphins looked unhappy and half the time didnt ignored the commands of the trainers. They deserve to be free out there in the ocean. Being there made me feel guilty and heartbroken for them. Just thinking of how they must have been snatched up from there families in the ocean just so humans can profit from them with tourists. I would never go back there again nor support that type of business. If only they had an "open sanctuary" type of thing were dolphins would come and go freely and get fed there etc.

We did the snorkeling excursion and had a blast! The boat crew was amazing, extremely friendly, tons of fun! My wife lost her glasses getting in and a diver found them on the bottom of the ocean. Can't wait to come back.

Total rip-off don`t do unless you want to waste your money. Swimming with the dolphins was a lot of fun but after you have to now pay for your pictures its $80 PER PERSON and another $15 per individual photos other than with the dolphins. Would not recommend it.

The catamaran our group took was a booze cruise and it was the highlight of our whole trip to Punta Cana. Granted though, we had a group of 10+ so we really owned the boat and had an amazing time out on their ocean. However, the animals they have you swim with live in pools so small that it's hard to let yourself believe that they live in them full time. It makes the whole thing feel very grim. Overall though we had no negative experience, those are just some points it was hard to look past until we were fully past that part of the experience. So I can't give it 5 stars in good faith, but 4 because the way they run everything involving the boats was wonderful.

Amazing experience, terrible after experience. The actual swimming with the dolphins was great. I'd recommend booking a tier down from the one you actually want. They will offer you a discounted upgrade at check in. We saved like 50 dollars getting the upgrade there rather than paying for it when booking. The swim depends on the tier you buy. It's a great experience that I think everyone should try at least once. The pictures and video are extremely expensive. We bought the package since it's a good memory and money isn't really a problem for us. The extra pictures are 15 dollars each which is crazy. The experience after finishing the swim was terrible. You don't get to leave for like 2 hours after finishing. The WiFi didn't work. There was a bird show that lasted like 29 minutes that was cool. The drive back the the resort was absolutely miserable. Our resort was the last drop off, so we were in the van for a good hour and 15 minutes. It was just a ridiculous time to spend on a drive. Anyone doing this excursion should know its a 6 hour commitment. We left at 8am and didn't get back until around 2.

Fun place. They really take care of their animals. Clean and friendly. Fun when on the boat, music, snack, and drinks. Travel to a snorkling spot, check out a sandbar and party with others. Dance on the boat.

Gave Dolphin Explorer 4 stars, it wasn't a cheap excursion. No cameras were allowed in the water because they were afraid it would harm the animals. In the end, they try to selling you a package of pics taken by there photographer. And boy were those packages expensive. I had to pass on purchasing pics even though I liked allot of the shots that were taken. If money's not a problem you'll enjoy the trip, 100%. The time spent with the dolphins was great, lots of fun. Kids were ecstatic.

Just insanely incredible. If your in Punta Cana this is a place that you must go. We loved the experience with the well treated animals and dolphins (Americans there also looking after them). Massive downside watch out for the price of the photos as these are massively expensive and they sting you on them as they know you want them. Top place to go non the less. You most definitely won't regret it.

My wife and daughter purchased the Excellence package and felt it was an experience of a lifetime. Don't purchase the non-swimmer/paparazzi ticket. It's not worth it as you won't be able to see anything or get decent photoswas at least 100 yards away obstructed by a chain fence. You'll still need to purchase the tour's expensive photos. Overall great experience.

It was a fun experience! I enjoyed swimming with the sharks, stingray, and especially the sea lions! I will say that they were insanely focused on the photo-op, but that's where the money comes in! I wished that there had been less time in between pick up and being finished with the activities, and wished that the photo service had been faster, but overall a fun excursion for the whole family!

I went along to watch my daughter, son in law and grandson swim with the dolphins. I paid $42 to sit approximately 40 yards from where they were. Their backs were to me and my view was blocked by the piers. What a waste of money! The security guard finally let me get closer so long as I left my camera and cell phone with him. If I had known that sooner, I would have left both items in the locker with the rest of the belongings. Then they charged $80 for the video and all of the pictures of my grandson. If they had added in pictures of my daughter and son in law, it would have been $210!!!! I understand they are trying to raise money to help support the animals, but they are extremely overpriced and do not explain what you are paying for very well. At least my grandson had fun.

Had a wonderful experience today swimming with Alex & Don Jose 2 of the Dolphins at Explorer. The whole time it was well organised & everything explained. Our Trainer Pedro was fantastic & spoke fluent English. We were in a small group of 6 other people. Yes the pictures were expensive 150 dollars but this was a once in a lifetime trip

Great show and excursion that took about 3 hours. Cannot bring a phone or gopro so you will have to purchase photos at 80/person worth it!

Dolphin Explorer was a once in a lifetime experience. They were expensive as anything, but ultimately, something my husband and I will never forget. We were able to hold stingrays and then swim with the dolphins. We spent over 30 minutes with the dolphins in a group of 8 other people. Each couple swam out multiple times to do tricks and swim with the pair of dolphins. We were then treated to a sea lion show and bird show. Tickets were about $150/person, plus a cost per person for photos. If you can let the cost go and relish in the experience, it is well worth it.

Amazing, we went to Dominican Republic on vacation over my birthday and my family surprised me with a surprise birthday. We went to Dolphin Explorer and I got to ride the dolphins , they take very good care of them. feels like you are riding on top of a Ferrari! They are amazingly fast. We also got to have two dolphins jump over us in synchronization. We did the photo package and looking back on that is amazing. We also got to kiss and dance with the dolphins , kiss a sea lion and watch a bird show. Dolphin explorer is amazing, I don't know why everyone's reviews are so horrible, it is a little expensive but maybe they just didn't choose the right package. Dolphin explorer is truly amazing. And well worth the money.

I do not swim, but this was amazing! Swam with the sharks (first one to get in the pool), stingrays, petted a seal, and went for a dive around the coral. Then we went out for a bit of a booze cruise to some shallow bay. Our hosts were great and supplied us with ample amounts of liquor on the cruise. There was supposed to be 30 people but ended up only being 9. Made for a much more enjoyable time.

You can tell this is an American company that knows exactly what they're doing. Very professional and the layout of the complex and structure to the excursions is very good. They introduce you to the animals and slowly integrate you to make you feel more comfortable when it comes to getting in the water with them. Only downside (which is why it is four star) is how EXPENSIVE the photos are to purchase. Wow! I spent $175 on them which to me is priceless because these are once in a lifetime experiences for many travellers however it doesn't feel fair that the company holds you to ransom for that fact!
