Interesting tour of rum factory. Well, they don't actually make it here, but they will show you how it's done and you can watch the bottling process from above. Good history of rum & samples to go along with it. Great for something to do on a rainy afternoon.

This was a fun and relatively short tour of Brugal's rum bottling plant.

You'll get a quick history of the company, get to sample a couple of their mid-tier rums, and see the factory floor where they bottle as part of the tour. The rum we sampled whole there was the XV and the Extra Viejo, which our guide compared to drinking like tea and coffee respectively. Of the two I preferred the Extra Viejo. We also saw a bottle of white rum fall and shatter while we were on the factory floor, which was interesting as according to our guide the machine only loses 1 or 2 a day at most.

The tour begins and ends in the gift shop, and I highly recommend purchasing any rum you want there, they're pretty well priced from 4$ for a 375ml bottle of spiced or white to the single $5000 bottle on display in a glass case. My favorite was the Leyenda, which at $17 in the gift shop is much cheaper than I can get it for back home in the US.

This is a factory outlet. Not exactly a museum 😄

Great tour of the factory and be sure to pick up some rum to bring back home. It’s cheaper here than back at home.

Very cool to see the scale of the production line. 6 million cases a year, 70% of which stay in the country
