Really bad. Poor breakfast, damaged shower and one night the electricity went off in the middle of our sleep for almost the entire night( no fan for us which sucked big time since it is super humid in there)

Very expensive for what it offers - not recommend

I stayed with my husband in this hotel in the period from 03/20/2016 to 03/23/2016. In fact, my reservation was until 24/03/2016, but we was greatly disappointed, and we decided to leave before.

The hotel is beautiful but not worth the amount that is charged daily. Points that worth notice:
1. We stayed at the bungalow 5B, which should be the best hotel room. However, we found several problems: The Jacuzzi was inactive, the shower worked 2 minutes with hot water and then had to shut down for about 5 minutes to return, the ceiling fan was broken and the available did a so loud noise that would rather stay without that. In addition, the room does not offer much privacy, has side bungalow, the balconies are almost facing each other.
2. Is a hotel for smokers? Smoking is allowed everywhere, including the owners that smoke on the side of customers even during the breakfast. For those who do not smoke, that is my case and my husband, it bothers a lot.

3. The breakfast is weak. A small plate with a few pieces of fruits, 3 slices of bread broken in half way , a jelly , a glass of juice and a cup of coffee , for two people. For the price charged it is a very weak breakfast, honestly the breakfast of a hotel in Bayahibe where we paid $ 29.00 was better.
4. As soon as we arrived the owner of the hotel wanted to retain my passport in the hotel safe box. We found it strange and said no, it was my only identification in the country. In no other hotel it was asked, only make a copy of the document. We find this very bad practice.

5. The hotel beach is not good for swimming, the sea is very rough, and not having any structure as beach umbrella and chairs. There are far more beautiful beaches nearby.

6. The hotel is far away from everything. No market, restaurant, anything. It has a restaurant inside the hotel, but very expensive.

7. The reservation is made with deposit via PayPal. PayPal charges a fee for the service for the seller, the owner of the hotel wanted to pass on this charge to the customer which was $ 15, I had to make it clear via email that the rate was not my responsibility.

8. No bath amenities are offered.

Anyway, I do not recommend this hotel. This is not the worst hotel in the area but not worth the cost. I think there other options nearby that worthwhile.

We stayed at Las Ballenas Escondidas Feb 2015. I have only just got around to writing about this little hotel. However this does not mean I haven't thought about it, recounted stories of how wonderful it was, dreamt about the tranquil and beautiful gardens, we saw Whales from the beach! The Individual rooms where set comfortably apart and were nestled in amongst greenery . Not to mention the excellent hosts, Delphine. It felt personal & wonderfully independent from so many other places. I would & intend to go back(someday). Just don't tell too many people about it. totally wonderful.

Nous avons passé 10 jours en février dans ce petit hôtel au charme fou au milieu d'un jardin tropical ! Un bungalow très agréable dans lequel on entend le bruit de l'océan la nuit, et les oiseaux du matin !
Une vue magnifique depuis le restaurant où l'on vous sert de délicieux repas concoctés par la cuisinière, une piscine à débordement pour vous tous seuls ou presque car personne ne se gêne à Las Ballenas, tantôt farniente à la plage ou à la piscine, tantôt ballades vers les plus belles plages désertes de la baie de Samanà (Rincon,Galleras) et le clou du séjour : des baleines à 3 m du bateau !
Delphine et Jérôme sont aux petits soins pour vous faire passer un séjour délicieux !

A really spectacular scenic location with exotic tropical gardens. This place is a gem. Well appointed rooms and bungalows in a quiet and totally natural environment. They also have a very nice infinity pool and a semi-private beach down below. Prices are really reasonable for such an unique place. Managers Delphine and Jerome, a young couple from France are both nice and friendly.
