We really enjoyed our 7 night stay. Food was decent (omelette station & pasta station) fresh to order. Snack bar food was ok and always something to eat. Drinks were tasty. Pool was huge and kids loved it from sunrise to sunset. My only complaint was the pool was closed from 7pm-7am. Grounds were very nice, kids club was good. Staff was all very friendly. Lots of locals on the weekend.

It's is an okay resort, the food is good but it does get repetitive. The entertainment shows were good, but some of them were very boring like the Hollywood show. The rooms were good except for the bathroom, the tub was always pretty nasty. The staff was really nice though, always there to help and pool as good too. The ocean was nice but dirty with seaweed and stick. But overall this resort was alright and it's good for kids too.

Excellent place to stay! Great helpful staff, food was great, the entertainment was wonderful and the other tourists we met became good friends! Highly recommended. My bf and I did the VIP package which honestly there is no other way to go in my opinion. The pool was clean, the weekend foam pool party was a blast. All around five star experience. I will certainly be back!

The overall experience was good and we had a nice vacation. However, for the cost, I really felt like it should have been way better. Buffet food was luke warm and the restaurant food wasn't much better. The first day was wasted on sales pitches we had to keep telling the guy just to take us back to the hotel so we could enjoy our vacation. All inclusive does not mean all inclusive here. Room service was extra, and even certain meal choices at one of the restaurants was extra. It was simply not all I was expecting it to be.

The food was nice. The customer service was good. The room was late by 1 hour, they didn't have towels in the room, the sink was blocked, and the iron wasn't working. Due to natural causes the beach was unavailable and the pool was full of mud ,which they didn't mention at the front desk before I paid. It took 1/2 days to clean the pool, by the time it was nearly ready I had to check out. The entertainment was very basic.

Food was okay. Decent variety. Majority of staff were great. One staff at guest services desk was rude when we inquired about reserving a table at an a la carte restaurant.

    Rooms were clean but dated.

Armed guards on the beach at night.

Had a few people looking to pitch time share presentations but would leave you alone if you said no. Surprised they can do this on resort property.

Dreary, grubby, unpleasant place altogether. The pictures do not reflect what you will find at this tired, worn-out 'resort'. Many of the guests were sick - all indicators point towards improper food handling/storage. Only 2 bars on site are included in the cost - the other you have to pay for your drinks. At an all- inclusive???? No waiters/waitresses serving drinks around the pool or beach which means ALL the guests have to line up for drinks of cheap, poor quality alcohol. And who builds a resort in a tropical location with no screens on the patio doors? Mattress in the room along with the curtains and furnishings surely have been left by Columbus when he was there in 1492 as they were worn out then. Staff unfriendly, unwelcoming, sometimes to the point of being rude. Some/most give the impression they don't really care if you're there or not, as a matter of fact, they tend to make you feel you're nothing more than an inconvenience to them. There was a gob of hair behind the bathroom door in my room when I arrived and it was still there when I left. I came back to my room one afternoon to find the door to the room wide open - nobody around but the door wide open. Nothing was missing but I found it unsettling. All in all stay away from this place - there's lots of better places out there. A huge disappointment if you're expecting a 5 star as it claims to be. A 2.5 star is more realistic and perhaps even a little generous.

Wrong room type. Supposed adult only building with family with young children across the hall. No hot water in shower for 3/5 days. Staff not friendly. Line ups at 1 pool bar. Overall crappy feel. Casino sketchy and small. Two stars for the amazing view of the mountain. Paid for Adults Only VIP and was treated worse than the cats about the property.

There is a reason why this hotel has the lowest rate among the others in the area and here is why:
    1. There is no safety in the hotel and perfect place for your kids to get electrocuted…see the pics below. The wiring for the sockets is exposed!!
    2. There was a guy with a shotgun literally outside the hotel………are you serious?? See the pics.
    3. There is not a policy for the visitor. Senior management does whatever he wants! Some of them told me then I can pay for a day pass and some others not. I end up seeing my friend out of the hotel which cost me a fortune.
    4. Be aware of the head of security guy. Is very hostile. Typical looser that got some “power” and does as he pleases!!
    5. The beach is nothing like you see on the pictures.

Things like the above can ruin your holiday. Better off to another hotel!!
I have payed a lot of money and the services I got was rubbish. Never again at this hotel!!!!!

    Not everything was bad though:
    • All personnel was really nice polite and friendly
    • Food was good
    • Atmosphere was good
    • Good location
    • I really enjoyed the watersports which was for free.

The beach very nice, the water too, and the pool. The bar service excellent, however the room service, and room quality has to be improved a lot. The rooms are clean though, however the "equipment" is old.
People are nice and friendly, however the management left a lot to be desired. The food choice and quality could be improved too.
US dollars are preferred, so exchanges from Canadian to US dollars are not to be made as the difference is way too big.
There is a market close by, however I understood from people who went there that it is not worth it, unless you want by all means visit it.
The transport from/to the airport very classy.
Unless they change something, I do not think I will re-visit this resort.

Needs renovating but we had a lovely relaxing time. Ideally would have more evening bar choices, perhaps proper tables and chairs in the theatre/entertainment bar so the bar could be open after the entertainment has finished.

My wife and i was at this hotel around 23rd Sept and when we arrived we had to change rooms three times as rooms smelt like a public toilet, the food has no selection and I would not even give to my dog , after 4 days I had choice to fly home or change hotels we decided to go into iberostar next door I had to pay but believe you me it was worth it , as an all inclusive hotel it was 150 per cent better than the live collection take advise if you are going to live collection soon amend booking if you can it is indescribable and very poor

I really did enjoy this place and the food but I did notice a difference in the drinks when I arrived on Thursday versus the drinks that were served on Friday and Saturday. Those were stronger. I was also upset when I went to make a reservation for dinner and no one was there and then when I came back she told me it was all booked! Other than that, our experience was good.

Everything feels like fake luxury. The service is fine in some areas but it's always the minimum. The rooms were okay and the air conditioning worked well. There weren't enough shaded areas around the pool, so if you're a late riser it will be too hot to spend a day at the pool. At the beach, there are also not enough parasols but at least there are palm trees which provide some semi-shade. It is not a four star plus resort. More like a three star. It shows that they are trying to make it better, but I wouldn't go back anytime soon. Give it 5 years to improve and then I would try this resort again.

The hotel grounds are beautiful, the all inclusive package is great value. The food and drink flows all day.
On the down side you must get to guest services early (By at least 9am) to reserve a spot at an on-site restaurant for dinner that evening. If you do not get a spot then the buffet is open and the food is wonderful and ever changing.

We have had an issue with customer service as our room is very damp with a smell and mould on the curtains. However each time we complain we are told it's humidity.
It's not humidity. It is damp. I'm aware of the difference. They promise repeatedly to send someone to check, so far 3 days in and nobody has arrived. It is putting a cloud over our holiday..

Edited to add: at the end of day 3 after speaking to guest services rather than reception we were finally moved. Happy to report that the new room had no smell and was incredibly comfortable.

2 stars for the food. 1 star for service. 1 star for entertainment. 0 stars for cleanliness. I cannot believe that it is rated as 4.5 star resort. I have seen 3 stars that were better than this resort. What a waste.

Ok lets start with going to the hotel about a 15 min drive from the airport they will try to charge $40 but you can get it for $30. Don't exchange money at the airport you don't get enough back exchange it at the casino by the hotel you will get more.

Now lets talk about the hotel beautiful the pools are wonderful big and spacious the beach is also big and spacious also beautiful. The workers are friendly the food is amazing. I find that the men are nicer than the women. Wifi you only get 1 hour free per day and you can only use it buy a specific area where they buffet is at service isn't good but you can contact your family so its better than nothing. Kids friendly very kid friendly. Kids everywhere.

Lets talk about the rooms. Average rooms but they are always cleaned. Make sure to leave used towels and things by the door so you can get fresh ones everyday. They clean very well. Bring your own soap. The water pressure is great and the water is hot.

They have 3 restaurants a buffet and a snack bar. The food is great. Always a place to eat. All of the food was delicious I didnt care for one of the restaurants which was the Mediterranean but that's just me. The Brazilian one was really delicious. They also have games everyday and they keep you entertained.

The only con is people will try to sell you things and they are a bit pushy but I think that is to be expected. The resort does have free activities like kayaking which was fun. They also have things you can do like the waterfall which you have to pay for and that was extremely fun be aware that you will have to walk a lot to get to the waterfall but it is worth it.

Ok lets talk about the partying. They do have an entertainment area but they play a lot of Spanish music. It is best to go to the entrance where they have the casino and club. Really fun they play all type of music which I was pleased about drinks are about $9-$10. You can drink for free if you are at the casino. On Thursday nights the club have strippers. I had a great time here for my stay.

I had an amazing time and I am looking forward to using this branch of hotels when I travel to other places. Also make sure you bring money to tip.

The resort was spacious and beautiful to say the least, but the staff was beyond unpleasant and for that simple reason I wouldnt go back. They treated you as if you were an unwanted guest and the food was crummy also. The rooms also were mediocre. Only gave it three stars because the deal was good and the view was beautiful. Oh and the disco and casino was amazing every single night!

Actually 3.5. Food was fine at buffet. The room was very dated but bathroom was fine. Lots of hot water and good pressure. Good tub. Beach was lovely, however don't wander far or people will approach you and ask for things.. Pool was nice but too busy and hot with little shade. Beach better to relax at.

I didn't expect it to grow on me. I liked the experience, one I can openly welcome once a year, I will give this place that.

And I got to meet some incredible people too.

The food is terrible besides breakfast that was excellent. Service is poor. The room is dated and smells very musty. Blankets were disgusting smelled of must and mold. Beds were hard. Room service not included. Can only go to the 3 restaurants once and u have to make a reservation that we only got late times even days in advance. Drinks were good and strong. Thank goodness for that. U only get one towel each for the pool area. Not enough chairs by the pool you have to reserve a to 6 am. People haggeling selling stuff constantly. The beach is terrible. Ocean is dirty not blue on the resort beach, very very disappointed. Maid service is terrible they didn't clean our room until 5 pm and we had to ask 3 times. Would never come back. They only give 1 hour of free WiFi otherwise I paid 60 dollars to use for a week.

    Price not worthy
Food is bad the manu is the same every day, unless you go to one of the restaurants, the room got flooded and they didn't event moved us, and took for ever to clean up, if you have value belongings you will pay $3us. per day in order to use the safe, room have a funny smell, do no smoke signs are all over the hotel but people used it as the point of smoking area, they don't respect the people that don't smoke, and there is no body to enforce the no smoking. Activities are so so, nothing that impress. Customer service need more training if you need something and ask different employees you will have different answers. Drinks are rations and are made from coolly, I'd I'm not a kid for that king of stuff, wine is water down taste bad, raining day you need to hurry an get an umbrella they don't have enough and no even ponchos. Casino if you smoke that's the place for you, there's more people smoking that playing, if you don't smoke ya' no missing much, the outside activities are good is the only thing we enjoyed, this don't have nothing to do with the hotel.

Although check-in is slow and the restaurants are booked for days, my wife and I had a pleasant experience at Be Live Marien in Puerto Plata. The staff are accommodating and friendly and the food is pretty tasty with a good vegan/pescetarian selection. I would also add, the guests were mostly Europeans and Canadians not very many locals.

We booked and paid for our stay at this resort three weeks before our trip. After waiting an hour to check in (they were super busy and apparently short staffed), the guy at the front desk casually mentioned that they were overbooked and would send us to another hotel and give us a voucher for our next trip. He did not apologize and actually accidentally charged us AGAIN, even though we had paid for the full stay already. When I asked him about the other hotel, he said he "wasn't going to lie" and that the quality was "not the same" as their hotel. I asked to speak to a manager and she was completely unhelpful. We went to the other hotel they were trying to get us to stay at (Puerto Plata Village) and it was awful quality. The grounds looked fine but the room looked like a cheap motel. There was chipped paint all over the floors. I could not stay there with my kids so we left and booked a completely separate hotel stay elsewhere. We requested a refund from Be Live and are still waiting for it (it's been over a week). Upon reading other reviews for Be Live, it seems like this "overbooking" scam happens there all the time. I don't understand how you can book and pay more than $800 for a hotel stay with them just to be told you can't stay there. They didn't even call us before we arrived to warn that they were overbooked. Totally unprofessional. Do not waste your time.
