Very nice Western ambiente,
however, the Plots for RV's rather a simple storage on horses. 😮😐 / pasture as a decent car park.
Really fun western town in the middle of nowhere.
There is something odd about a western city so far away from US. But we gave it a chance.
The city itself seems worn out and could use some care. The playground was a big hit with the kids and so was the indoor amusement area. In general the city have some nice buildings and historically interesting things to show but at the same time it is not done fully. As an example they have build a nice fortress but at the same time place modern shed with metal roof and everything on one of the sides. And there is many examples of these architectural conflicts. The newly build horse show arena could also use some western makeover to make it fit in. Why not go all the way? It gives the impression of landing between chairs.
We had lunch at the buffalo bill restaurant. The service was terrible as we waited almost 40 minutes just to place the order and it was not even a full house at that time. The food was actually ok.
The show was fine except that we missed a few classic gunfights. But in the beginning of the show it was announced that due to all the violence happening in the world today that have removed that from the show. A decision I would normally folly support but in this case I was very confused by the fact that they at the same time have dedicated a whole building to display guns, riffles and cannons from the Wild West? Again if you do something do it fully and not half.
If you are in the neighbourhood and have kids I would recommend a visit. But no need to travel far to see it.
Had a great time with the "Great James Dee"! If anyone has problems and need a local english speaker while in town, go to Mr. Dee's Billiard Bar, and he'll be happy to help.
ROMANTIK PUR ..
We are regular visitors to the Harz and this place was recommended to us by some German friends. We spent a pleasant afternoon here but don't expect too much. This is not on parr with Disney or even any modern museums I've been to lately. It's all all rather shoddy and second rate. There are lots of folks walking round in authentic costumes and the buildings are quite good. We enjoyed looking round the little museum and at some of the individual displays and exhibits. The shows on the main street are okay. The highlight of the day is the Buffalo Bill Show. This tells the story of how the west was won. It has a big cast and it was interesting watching the wagons and horses go past. The comedy was a bit flat and there was no shooting or sound effects during the civil war scene, Indian raids or gun fight. It was all mimed. We liked seeing the buffalo and the long horned cattle come through. Will Bill was good but the show lacked drama and excitement. The merchandise on sale in the shops was not up to much but the food and drinks were reasonably priced. I wouldn't make a return visit but if you are in the area and want to fill some time then it's worth the 8 Euros to go in and have a wander round.
Cool
