We visited during the renovation of the main museum but the small museum opened instead gives a good overview on Limes in a short amount of time. You can also visit the ruins next to the museum without any issue.
Open air museum2000 year old..
only for German speaking
The museum is very informative. We enjoyed dressing in Roman clothing and chainmail. The ruins are huge and well documented. The grounds are wonderful to walk through.
Great ruins and low key/not crowded place. Although main museum hall is closed until 2018, smaller building had a room for kids with cool swords, shields, and chain mail armor that was a hit with my son. This is a UNESCO site for good reason being an important and largest Roman fort north of the Alps.
Very calm place warm water
