Check in was rather slow as only two desks seem to be checking in a full plane worth of people. No free wi-fi, food and drink options quite limited for a large section of the airport (also no drinking fountains), so eat and bring your own water/drinks. Many many tour operators here, but also empty shops. Not sure why the airport needs to be so big when so much of it is empty. At least the trains run fairly frequently from Halle and Leipzig so it is not too hard to get to. Only thing of interest is an old plane on display.

surprisingly horrible service. if you can't cope with people landing in here simply DO NOT ACCEPT FLIGHTS! standing in a queue for an hour and anything is organised. worst airport I hve ever seen.

Beware when you hire a car from this airport location. I picked up mine in the dark parking garage. Checked for damages and found none. On return they inspect the car with flashlights paying particular attention to the wheels. While waiting for my return I observed them doing this to every single returned car and taking pictures. They found a minor scuff (usually considered acceptable wear and tear) on 2 wheels of my car and charged for the whole wheel (€634x2). I had no incident and am certain it was present when I picked it up but it was dark and I don't tend to travel with a flashlight. In my opinion they are setting you up for this. My advise: pay close attention and document any small scratch you find. I won't hire a car there again.
