Parking situation and information is not the best. The view from the mountain is nice and the church is beautiful.
Amazing church in Staffelstein.

Sollte man Mal vorbeischauen.
Prachtige basiliek vlakbij Lichtenfels/Franken. Mooie inrichting. Geweldig uitzicht over de omgeving.
Coming back after many year to this splendid church which we visited often in my childhood as a goal of trekking. From Lichtenfels to Vierzehnheiligen, to the mountain "Staffelberg", over the river to the monastery "Kloster Banz" and back to Lichtenfels to take the train for Coburg.
This time in car, only the last meters on foot - and the facade seems to have been treated by the artist Christo - but less artistic, the towers hidden behind plastic. Well, I have the memory of what it really looks like, and I enjoyed the interiors, as always. The light and playfulness, the lightness of the room: I always preferred it to the dark and gloomy atmosphere of so many catholic churches, including the one of Kloster Banz. Rococo pure, an invitation to believe in God, instead of the overwhelming and darkish power which threatens you if you don't.
Well, you don't have to believe in God to enjoy the building and the manifest expression of the artist Balthasar Neumann
